乌鲁木齐地区2017年高三英语第一次诊断性测试第一部分:听力略.第二部分:英语知识运用(共两节,满分40分)第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。A Two years ago, I lost my husband. I was so depressed and almost penniless that I had to make my living by selling books to rural and town schools. I could hardly make payments for a used car, small as they were. In the spring of last year, I was working out of Versailles, Missouri. I was so lonely and discouraged that at one time I even considered suicide(自杀). It seemed that success was impossible and I had nothing to live for. I feared to get up each morning and face life. But all that kept me from suicide was the thoughts that my sister would be very sad, and that I couldnt afford to pay my funeral expenses. Then one day I read an article that lifted me out of my depression. One inspiring sentence in it was “Every day is a new life to a wise man.” I stuck it on the fridge, where I could see it every day. I found it wasnt so hard to live only one day at a time. I learned to forget the yesterdays and not to think of the tomorrows. Now I have succeeded in overcoming my fear of loneliness and want. I am happy and quite successful, and have a lot of enthusiasm and love for life. I realize that I shall never again be afraid, regardless of what life hands me. I realize that I dont have to be fear of the future, and I can live one day at a time because “Every day is a new life to a wise man.”21. Which do you want to hear first? The good news The new 13-inch and 15-inch version is thinner(0. 6 inches), lighter(3 and 4 pounds), and faster than ever before. A retina screen, which is something Mac Book Air fans have waited for forever, is supposed to be two-thirds brighter and more energy efficient. The new laptop has a battery life of up to 10 hours The star feature of the new laptop, though, is the Touch Par. Being able to log in(录) without entering a password 65 times a day is a joy. The power button, the rightmost Touch Bar button, is also a Touch ID fingerprint reader. Once youve taught the Mac to recognize your fingerprint, just resting your finger on this button is enough to unlock it.And now the bad news The MacBook Pro has no standard USB jacks, no video output jack, no SD card reader for your cameras memory card. And all of your current laptop power chargers are now worthless to you. Instead, Apple has put two or four USB-C jacks, And for anything you want to charge up, like your camera, or even your iPhone, you need an adapter to charge them! The second piece of bad news is the price. These are expensive laptops. The cheapest model is$ 1300, which is $ 200 more than the Base model MacBook Air used to be. The basic Touch Bar model is $ 1, 500(13-inch) or $ 2, 400(15-inch). If you max out the storage and speed of a 15-inch model, the grand total is $4, 300. How is the last paragraph developed?A. By analyzing cause and effect. B. By giving instructions.C .By making suggestions. D. By listing figures. C Human life spans may be limited to a maximum of about 115 years, claim US scientists. Their conclusions, published in the Journal Nature, were made by analyzing decades of data on human longevity(寿命). They said a rare few may live longer, but the possibility was so small youd have to search 10, 000 planet Earths to find just one 125-year-old. But while some scientists have praised the study, others have labelled it a depressing distort(曲解). Life expectancy has been increasing since the nineteenth century-due to vaccines, safer childbirth and cures for cancer and heart disease. But can that go on forever? The team in New York analyzed data and the deaths of super-centenarians (those over 110)in France, Japan, UK and US. The data showed increases in life expectancy were slowing in centenarians and that the maximum age of death had been kept for at least two decades. Jeanne Calment, the oldest ever person, whose age can be backed up by official documents, was 122 when she died in 1997. The French icon of longevity was born before the Eiffel Tower was constructed. Nobody has since got near her precious age. The 115-year claim is too much for Prof James, the director of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. He described the study as a depressing distort and said scientists had in the past claimed the limit was 65, 85 and 105, only to be proven wrong over and over again. This study adds nothing to scientific knowledge about how long we will live. Experiments, which look after animals in ideal conditions, have suggested life spans do have a limit. Prof Jay, from the University of Illinois, said mice tend to live for about 1.000 days, dogs for about 5, 000 days and humanity is approaching a natural limit to life.29. Which of the following is not a factor that influences life expectancy?A. Vaccines. B. Data analysis. C. Safer childbirth. D. Cures for diseases.30. What is Prof James attitude toward the 115-year claim?A. Opposed. B. Neutral. C. Supportive. D. Indifferent.31. It can be inferred from the text that_.A. many people are likely to be 125 years oldB mice tend to live for over 13 yearsC. the oldest person in Britain is 122 years oldD. Prof Jay believes there exists a limit to life spansDChinas new buzzword, tuhao, may be in next year s Oxford English Dictionary. The word caught the attention of the dictionary s editing team after BBC s recent program on influential Chinese words. “If its influence continues, it is very likely to appear on our updated list of words,” said Wie Kleeman, project manager with the editing team. Kleeman told the Beijing Youth Daily that tuhao has some similarities with the English word bling, which refers to expensive, ostentatious clothing or jewelry. Both the words have existed for long but later on took a new meaning. In Chinese, “tu” means graceless and “hao” means rich. It has traditionally referred to rich people who throw their weight around in Chinas rural areas. In recent years, people borrowed the term to describe those who spend money in an unreasonable manner. The word got popular in September with the launch of Apples new gold-colored iPhone. The color became known as “tuhao gold”. The word is now often used by the online community to refer to people who have the cash but I lack the class to go with it. Kleeman also mentioned two other Chinese words-dama and hukou-which may alsomake it into the dictionary. People can grasp the meanings if they see pinyin, Kleeman said, adding that people avoided using an English word to preserve the original meaning. We have nearly 120 Chinese -linked words now in Oxford English Dictionary, she said. The new words will be first-uploaded on the official website before the dictionaries arrive. The online version is also renewed every three months. “It at least broke our old rules. It used to take 10 years to include a new word but now we keep the pace with the era,” according to a statement issued by ex-chief-editor John Simpson.32. The underlined word “ostentatious” in Paragraph 2 probably means _.A. shabby B. comfortable C. ordinary D. showy33. Which statement is true according to the text?A. Traditionally, tuhao has referred to rich people with very impolite behaviours.B. Apples new iphone was called “tuhao gold” because it was expensive.C. New words will be renewed every three years on the official website.D. Tuhao and hukou have appeared in the Oxford English Dictionary.34.According to Kleeman, foreigners use pinyin instead of the translated version in order to_.A. keep the original meaning B. save more timeC. avoid using English D. follow the fashion35. Where can you possibly find the text?A. In a science magazine. B. In a newspaper. C. In a research paper. D. In an official document.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Rules Every Female Travellers Should Follow Not only have I traveled extensively during my life, I come from a long line of travelers.
