The reading material in this part is for students to learn the importance of living a healthy life and have a better understanding of beauty. Students are encouraged to take a positive attitude toward ones appearance. Teaching aims:1. Enable the Ss to read the E-mails “Dying to be thin”.2. Enable the Ss to grasp the words and expressions in the emails.3. Enable the Ss to have the confidence to talk about the topic.4. Develop a correct attitude toward beauty. Teaching important points: 1. Enable the Ss to understand the contents of the e-mails. 2. Enable the Ss to use the information in the e-mails and talk about the topic with the information. 3. Develop a correct attitude toward beauty. Teaching difficult points: Enable the Ss to understand the contents of the e-mails. Enable the Ss to perform a interview. Teaching aids: Mass media Teaching procedures:Step 1.lead-in In this part, I will let students watch a video showing a girl who was slim but now she is fat to arouse students interests. Write a letter to him/her to give him/her some useful advice.Directions:This teaching plan is designed to emphasize on improving students ability in reading comprehension and applying what they have learned to practice. The first few pictures are used to arouse their interests in the topic and attract their attention. The importance of interest in learning can never be emphasized enough. Without interest students cant learn anything enthusiastically. Only when the students become interested in the topic will they focus their attention on the topic. They will understand the contents more quickly and will be active enough to think of new ideas.By fast reading, the students will practice their reading skills and get a general idea of the emails. Different reading skills need different practice. In order for the students to better understand the emails, detailed reading is required. So the next step will be detailed reading. In this step, some forms and questions are prepared to check and guide the students. Different approaches are used to deal with different parts so that the students will not feel bored and their high enthusiastic mood will not be lowered. After completing these tasks, they will get a clear idea of the contents of each email. After reading each email, some exercises are provided to strengthen the students understanding of the passages, so the students will be able to use the information they have got through reading to complete the further tasks. Some other exercises are also provided to let the students have enough information. This is also required by the task-centered teaching theory-the students are getting ready for the final task by completing all these former tasks. After all these preparations, the students will have some confidence in the TV show and so will be active in preparation part. On the one hand, The topic is interesting and has something to do with their daily life: some of the students are also considering going on diet for a slim figure just because their classmates and they themselves have negative attitude toward shape. On the other hand, they have got enough information from reading and enough ideas from debating. That is, they have something to talk about, they will feel a sense of achievement by acting. Thats why the interview is assigned to them.Last but not least, students will learn their moral lessons in many cases, including English classes. When we are developing students ability in using English, we are also required to develop their positive qualities. The last task is intended to guide students have a correct attitude toward their shapes in their daily life. In teaching the part reading, teachers used to concentrate only on the understanding of the materials and the usage
