(=made my drink spill). 我失手打翻了饮料。spill down 由上至下洒(浇)到上spill on 溢(溅)到上spill over溢(洒)满2) (esp. over) to spread or rush beyond limits 溢出;涌出The crowd spilt over from the church into the streets. 群众从教学涌向街道。2. ruin: v.1) to destroy and spoil (completely) 毁灭;毁坏 This is an ancient ruined city. 这是座被毁灭了的古城。She poured water all over my painting and ruined it. 她把水泼在我整幅画上,结果把它毁了。2) to cause total loss of money to 使破产I was ruined by that law case; Im a ruined man! 我被那场官司搞垮了,现在已经倾家荡产了。c.f. destroy, damage, break, ruin, spoil, wreckdestroy毁灭(全部),指剧烈的毁坏到不能再使用的程度。常作及物动词是“破坏,毁坏,打破计划,消灭”。(反义词是:construct)damage损坏(部分),指造成的一定程度上的损失。ruin摧毁,指天灾人祸般的彻底摧毁性。spoil指把事情弄糟,破坏(心情,兴致等)。wreck指船、飞机、轮船等交通工具的摧毁。e.g. All her hopes were destroyed.她所有的希望都破灭了。Our holiday was spoiled by the bad weather. The burglar must have heard me, and he rushed out of the window the way he came in.
