I always laughed at the funny pictures and the humorous things that the characters said. As I got older, I learnt how to draw pictures, and I began reading comic books. My favourite comic book is Batman, which was first published in 1939 by DC Comics, one of the two biggest comic book publishers in the USA. Batman is a superhero, and he fights crime in Gotham City. Batman was made into five successful films between 1989 and 2005. It was very exciting to see my favourite superhero come alive on the screen! Batman is not the only comic book that was made into a film. Superman, Spiderman, Fantastic Four and X-men have also become live-action films. Recently, I have been thinking that I would like to be a comic book artist in the future. I enjoy drawing and love comic books, so it seems like the perfect occupation for me.I have been researching what I need to do to become a comic book artist. The first thing I need to do is make a portfolio, which is a collection of my best work. My portfolio should show that I am capable of creating original drawings. I also have several ideas for comic book characters. It is not enough just to draw pictures of a character in different poses, though. I need to show the publisher that I can create a story using pictures, so my portfolio should have a series of drawings that tell a story. In addition to drawing my character well, I also have to be able to draw background scenes, such as city landscapes. As many comic book writers want to work for DC Comics and Marvel, the other large American comic book publisher, getting a job at one of these companies is very difficult. I might consider working for a smaller company at first. Then after I have some experience I can try to get a job at DC Comics, which has published some of my favourite comic books.I hope I can achieve my dream of being a comic book artist soon.(1) The writer likes comic books because _.A. his father used to read them to him B. the stories and pictures are very interestingC. he works for a comic book publisher D. they often come alive on theatre screens(2) Batman is an example of _.A. a film that was made into a comic book B. a newspaper comic stripC. a comic book published by Marvel D. a comic book that has been made into films(3) In order to get a job as a comic book artist, you must show _.A. some new ideas B. that you can tell a story using picturesC. that you can tell humorous stories D. a comic book that you have drawn yourself(4) A portfolio is _.A. a collection of an artists best work B. an idea for a comic book C. a collection of comic books D. a drawing of a comic book character(5) Many comic book artists want to work for DC Comics and Marvel becaus
