Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?Period 1 (Section A 1a, 1b, 1c)Teaching aims:1.To observe and describe animals. 2.To talk about their preferences. 3. Learn the new words by reading loudly, learn the language by listening and speaking.Teaching Importances: Learn the names of the animals and talk about their characteristics.Teaching Difficulties: Expressing preferences and giving reasons Teaching tools: Tape recorder; Multi-Media; PPTTeaching Steps:Step1 .warm-up(5 minutes)To create an English environment, the teacher shows the class some pictures of a zoo. And ask some questions about animals:Do you like animals? What animals do you like?Whats your favorite animal?Why do you like? BecauseStep2.Presentation(15minutes)1. Then show the class some pictures of animals and present other animals. And ask them:Whats this in English?Its a tiger. (Then lion, panda, elephant, koala, giraffe)2. The teacher leads reading the words.3. Ss look at the picture and try to remember the new words of the animals.Step3. A guessing game. (5 minutes)The teacher shows some pictures on the screen. Let Ss guess what animals they are.Ss try to guess and remember the names of the animals.Step4. 1a1. Glue the pictures on the blackboard and ask one student to match the pictures with the words on the cards. Other students turn to page 25 and finish 1a.2. Check the answers with the class.Step5. Listening (5 minutes)Work on 1b.1. Tell Ss to listen to the tape and check the animals they hear in 1a.2. Play the recording again and fill in the blanks.3. check the answers with the class.Step 6:Pair work (5 minutes)Work on 1c.1. ask a student to do the model with you: Lets see the lions first.Why? (why do you like lions?)Because they are interesting.2. Ss work with their partners to practice the conversation using the animals given.Step 7: Group work(5 minutes)Ask your group members the animals he/she likes and doesnt like
