Students will learn to talk about what people are doing. They will also learn the names of activities such as watching TV, using the computer, listening to music. Students are interested in talking about everyday activities by using the drills: -What are you doing? -Im -What is he/she doing? -He/She is .In Section A, it first provides names of activities such as watching TV, Swimming, reading and so on. Then it introduces the drill: What be sb. doing? After the students learn this part, they will be able to act out activities and make statements about themselves.二、Teaching aims:1. Knowledge goals New words and phrases:newspaper,read a newspaper,use,use the computer,soup,make soup, wash,wash the dishes ,movie,go to the movies Target Languages:-What are you doing?-Im watching TV.-What is he/she doing?-She/He is writing.-What are they doing?-Theyre singing.Grammar: the Present Progressive Tense2. Ability goals:Train Ss listening and speaking skills.Train Ss communication skills.3. Moral goalsLearn to report what people are doing.Learn to make statements about themselves.三、Teaching important points:1. New words and drills.2. Grammar: the Present Progressive Tense.四、Teaching difficult points:Let students learn how to make some sentences by using the Present Progressive Tense.五、Teaching methods:1. Listening and speaking methods. 2. Task-based teaching methods.3. Pair-work 、group-work and game. 4. I will divide all students into four groups. There will be a competition among them. If they answers a question correctly or take part in an activity. I will give them one point. At last, the group which has the most points will be the winner.六、Teaching steps. Present the new words Teach “newspaper, soup, movie” with real objects or pictures in the PPT.T-Ss2min 2. Present the verb phrases. Teach“read a newspaper, use the computer,make soup ,wash the dishes and go to the movies” by doing actions or pictures in the PPT.T-Ss 3min 3. Practice the new phrases Let my Ss finish la and check their answers with them.Ss 3minStep 4 Present the new structures (Task 2)1.Present some sentences about the Present Progressive Tense. I will show a picture of watching TV with PPT.-What are you doing? -Im watching TV.And write them on the blackboard. I will write “are doing, am watching” with colorful chalk to ask Ss to pay attention to these.Then practice two sentences with the same way.-What are you doing? -Im reading a newspaper.-What are you doing? -Im cleaning. I will show two pictures of two girls with PPT.T: what is she doing? (One picture)Ss: She is dancing. (dancedancing)T: What is she doing? (the other picture)Ss: She is taking a shower. (taketaking) I will show two pictures of two boys with PPTT: What is he doing? (One picture)Ss: He is running. (runrunning)T: What is he doing? (the other picture)Ss: He is swimming. (swimswimming) I will show two pictures of several people with PPT.T: What are they doing?Ss: They are talking on the phone.T: What are they doing?Ss: Theyre using the computer.T-Ss 7min2.Make a summary about the Present Progressive Tense Let Ss sum up the rules of the present participle and sentences about the Present Progressive Tense with me. Then explain them to students. The rules of present participle:(1) add “ing”directly e.g. watchwatching readreading(2)take away no pronunciation “e” and add “ing” eg: rideriding, writewriting.(3)double the last letter and add “ing” eg: runrunning, swimswimming.I am 单数 You are +v-ingHe/ She /It is We复数: You are + v-ing TheyExplain the Present Progressive Tense to the students.T-Ss 3minStep 5 Guessing game(Task 3)Ss cant see what she/he is doing in the picture in the PPT and guess right activities . -T: What is she doing? -S1:She is singing. -S2:She is eating. Encourage Ss to guess the answer until his/her answer is right.T-Ss3minStep 6 Listening practice(Task 4)1. Let my Ss listen to MP3 carefully and finish 1b.Then check their answers.Ss2min2. Let my Ss listen to MP3 carefully, and finish 2a and 2b. Then check their answers. Ss 5mimStep 7 Speaking practice(Task 5 and 6) 1. Pair-work (Task 5) Practice the conversation. -Whats he doing? -Hes using the computer. -Whats she doing? -Shes making soup. - What are they doing? -Theyre listening to a CD. Ask and answer questions about the pictures in the PPT. Give Ss some time to practice ,then ask some pairs to act in the front.Ss4min2.Group-work(Task 6) A student does an action. Other students guess what heshe is doing. e.g. S1:Do an action “swim”. T:What is heshe doing? Ss: He is swimming. Then ask some groups to act like this.Ss6minStep 8 Summary 1.Students say the new words and phrases by themselves.2. Review important drills(Some sentences about the Present Progressive Tense ). 3.Announce the winners and congratulate them.T-Ss2minStep 9 Homework1. Review section A (1a-2c). 2. Preview Section A (3a-3c).3. Write several conversations about the Present Progressive Tense.T1minTeaching prediction:1. Teaching time of every step cant be exact. Maybe time isnt enough. Because the language point about the Present Progressive Tense is mentioned for the first time, maybe its a little difficult for my Ss to understand be clearly.3.
