Be able to use some sentence structures of comparative degree freely. 情感目标 Get students able to describe their friends personal traits.【教学重难点】 重点 1. Master the key words. Key words: outgoing, better, loudly, quietly, hard-working, competition, fantastic, which, clearly, win. 2. Master some useful expressions. Useful expressions: Tina is taller than Tara. Sam has longer hair than Tom. She also sings more loudly than Tara. 难点 The usage of some difficult sentence structures. He has shorter hair than Sam. Is Tom smarter than Tim? She also sings more loudly than Tara. 【教学准备】 A tape recorder, a projector and handouts.【教学过程】 Step 1: Lead-in 1.Show some pictures and let the students compare them. 2. Talk about the picture on Page17 with students. Then ask students to repeat the following sentences: (1) Tina is more outgoing than Tara. (2) Tara is quieter than Tina. (3) Sam is more outgoing than Tom. (4) Sam has longer hair than Tom. (5) Tom is quieter than Sam. (6) Tom has shorter hair than Sam. 3. Ask students to match each words in 1a with its opposite. Step 2: Presentation 1. Teach activity 1b (1) Play the recording and ask the students to number the twins. (2) Ask one student to tell hisher answers. (3) Check the correct answers to the whole class. 2. Teach activity 1c (1) Point out the sample conversation in activity 1c. (2) Ask students to work with a partner and make conversation about the twins. (3) Ask several pairs to act one or more of their conversations out. (4) Explain some language points.Step 3: Practice1. Teach activity 2a (1) Point out the two columns and read the headings: (i)er or more. Then point out the words in the box. Lead the students to read them. (2)Tell students to listen and write the er and ier words in the first column and the words that use more in the second column. (3) Play the recording for the first time and check the answers.2. Teach activity 2b (1) Point out the picture and the two boxes with the headings Tina is and Tara is. (2)Ask students to listen to the recording. Write down words they hear in the boxes. The words are from the list in activity 2a. (3) Play the recording for the second time and check the answers.3. Teach activity 2c (1) Point out the chart in activity 2c. Student A look at the chart on the right. Students B look at the chart on page 81. Ask and answer questions about Sam and Tom. (2) Students practice their conversations. (3) Ask some pairs to act out their conversations. Step 4: Consolidation Teach activity 2d 1. Let students read the conversation first and try to match the people with the right things. 2. Lead students read the conversations . 3. Let students practice the conversation. 4.Invite some pairs to act out their conversations in front of the class. 5.
