How long have I been a teacher? - you have been a teacher for 27 years. since 27 years ago. since 1994. 2. 1998 is an important year for me. I got married in that year. How long have I been married? - You have been married for 19 years. 3. I have been in sjm for 14 years 4. Since 2006, I have worked in No. 1 middle school. Ss read the phrases and sentences together. B. Ss talk about themselves by answering the following questions 1. how long have you lived in SJM? 2. How long have you learned English? 3. How long have you studied in this school? 4. How long have you been a League Member? They may answer like this: I have lived in SJM since /for., I have learned English for/ since , I have studied in this school for / since, and I have been a League Member for/ since ( I am not a League Member) Step 2 Presentation: A. Show Ss pictures of old objects at home. Tell Ss, at home, I have a lot of old things, and introduce each object:1. Look, this is my wallet. I bought it in 1996. So how long have I had it? - I have had it for 22 years. (Ss read it together) -I have had it since 22 years ago. Talk about my old camera, old pot, cup, lamp with the same procedures.B. Ss talk about their old objects by answering questionsDo you have any old things at home?How long have you had it? They may answer like this? I have a at home. I have had it for years. since years ago.Step 3 DisicussionTell Ss: As for (至于)me ,I love these things ,because some of them are beautiful . And some can bring back sweet memories.but they make our home crowded and small . To be honest老实说 ,I no longer不再 need them Explain the use of “as for, to be honest and no longer”, and try to make sentences with them. Ask Ss, but what will you do with the things you dont need ? why? let Ss discuss in groups. They may tell us like this: We think we will keep them, because they are meaningful and can bring back sweet memories.And help them to say “have a yard sale”Step 4: Read and answer Do you know what a yard sale is? Show Ss pictures of yard sales. Read a passage talking about a yard sale and answer the questions: 1. Yard sale is a special culture in America. (T) 2. All the things in the yard sale are second-hand. (F) 3. To attract (吸引)more people, the yard sale is often on weekends. (T) Ask Ss: Have you ever had a yard sale? Show Ss pictures of their “flea market” and tell them that may be another kind of yard sales.Step 5: pairwork A: what did you sell in your yard sale? B: A: How do you feel when you sell it? B: A: Why? B:Step 6: readingA. Skimming Show the boy and the girl in 3a. Tell Ss they are brother and sister. They will have a yard sale with their father, then answer: What did they sell ? (read and find out the answers) What is each paragraph about?Ss read the passage quickly, then find out the answers.B. But Why did they decide to have a yard sale?What do they want to do with the money from the sale?Read Para 1carefully and find out the answers.Answer the questions after reading.
