Section A (1a-1c) 襄州区张湾中心学校 赵 国 敏.Analysis of Teaching Material: This lesson is the first part of Unit5, it mainly talks about what the person was doing at sometime in the past. Students will learn a new tense “ Past Progressive Tense”.Its fancy and challenging for students.At the same time it lays the foundation for the next lesson.Such a topic is related to daily life, so it is helpful to raise learning interests of students and it will be also helpful to improve their spoken English. .Analysis of studentsThe students have learned English for more than one year. Theyve already had some of vocabulary, experience and language foundation. They have learned the Present progressive Tense in Grade 7. So its not difficult for them to learn this lesson.III.Teaching Goals: 1. Knowledge aims:1)New words:rainstorm2)Target language:- what were you doing at the time of the rainstorm? -I was at home doing my homework. -What was he doing when the rainstorm came? -He was walking home.2. Ability aims:1).Train the students listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.2) Train students communicative competence.3. Moral aims:1). To protect yourself at the time of rainstorm.2).To improve the students spirit of teamwork. .Teaching Importances:Students can use the Past Progressive Tense to talk about the events in the past.V.Teaching Difficulties:The structure and use of the Past Progressive Tense.VI.Teaching Methods:Communicative approach. Pair work. Group work. Task-basedVII.Teaching Aids:CAI, some cards of phrases , a microphoneVIII.Teaching Procedures:Step 1. Preparation1. Warming-up1) Free talk like this: How are you? Nice to meet you! Whats the weather like ? How was the weather yesterday? What do you usually do on Monday? What did you do last night?and so on. 2) Watch a short English video “Rain rain go away ”and sing along with it.设计意图:短暂的英语问候和轻松愉快的英文歌曲迅速把学生拉进英语学习的氛围。2. Lead -in What are you doing now?We are having an English class.What were you doing at this time yesterday?We were having math.设计意图:用真实的场景We are having an English class.导入新课,自然有效。Step 2. Presentation1.Present the past progressive by comparing present progressive.Drills: practice the past progressive in different forms.设计意图:用现在进行时类比学习过去进行时,突破难点,用不同的形式操练对话,激发学生学习的兴趣。2.Guessing gamesLast night, I went to my family members rooms.Please guess!What were they doing when I arrived?设计意图:用Guessing games来操练新时态,造句子,提高学生参与课堂的积极性。3. Listen to the sound of the rainstorm , and present the new word : rainstorm. Then practice one by one.设计意图:用声音导入新单词,有听觉上的刺激,再由多到少操练新单词,让每个学生参与到课堂学习中。4.Present the four pictures and talk about them.Where were they at the time of rainstorm ?What were they doing when the rainstorm came?设计意图:呈现课本主题图画,分解学习的难点。5.Pair work .Talk about the pictures like this in pairs. A:Where were they at the time of the rainstorm ? B: She was in the house. A: What was the girl doing when the rainstorm came? B: She was设计意图:Pair work让学生更加熟悉课文图片,也促进学生之间的交流。 Step 3. Practice1.Finish 1a. Match the statements with the people in the picture.Give students enough time to finish it. Then check the answers.2.Listening Pre-listening. Introduce the scene: a TV reporter interviewed the four people: What were they doing at the time of the rainstorm? Please listen carefully and circle the correct responses.While-listening Play the recording of 1c the first time. Students finish 1c.if necessary,play the recording the second time. Then check the answers.Post-listening. Listen again and answer the questions. Its _ today. Production Group Work Play the video about the military review of 2015. Then let students work in groups,one is a reporter, Interview three classmates.What were you doing at that time?Give students more pictures to help them open the mind.At last ask two or three groups to report in front of the class.设计意图:一段短视频打开学生记忆的大门,用更多的图片拓展学生的思路。记者采访情景模仿,学生兴趣高。Step5: Progress1.Summary.Let students summarize what they have learned . First discuss in groups. Then ask students to report it.设计意图:小组开放地讨论能出更多更好的总结。2.Exercises :( choose lucky number)1) I was running at 7:00 yesterday morning.
