Learn the new words and phrases: instructions, tool, brush, glue, rope, exactly, stands for, instead of, repair2. Learn the sentences: Youd better. Whats DIY exactly? I need some paper, glue.3. Revise to write an activity about DIY after class. B Ability objects: 1. Train students listening skill; 2. Train students communicative approach;3. After the class, students can talk about tools in English freely.C Moral objects:1. To be interested in communicating in English;2. To be interested in making, repairing or decorating things in their life by themselves.*Teaching strategies 1. Teaching methods: Listening approach, Group-cooperation, task-based method.2. Learning method: Communication approach.3. Teaching aids: multi-media. Blackboard, some real things, *Teaching key points: 1. Master the key words in this period.2. Key structures: Youd better. Whats DIY exactly? I need some paper, glue.*Teaching difficult points: How to correctly make a new conversation about DIY.* Teaching procedures:Step1 Lead-in1. Help the students to revise the new words that they have learned.T: Look at these pictures, Can you tell me: What are these? S: They are tools.T: How do you spell tools?S: T-O-O-L-S, tools.T: When we do some DIY, the tools are very useful. Do you know DIY? DIY=Do it yourself.(write it on the blackboard). Now look at the pictures one by one. Whats this in English?S: B-R-U-S-H, brush.Review the new word “brush” and so on. Pay attention to “a pair of scissors”.Step2 Presentation (learn part A)1. Show the pictures in Part A. “Look at this boy? He is Andrew. He is crazy about DIY. So he has some tools. Please write the names of the tools out quickly.2. Then ask students to finish part A on P43.3. Read these words again. “You can use these tools to make things, repair things or decorate things.” so do you know Suzy? The students may answer “no”. Suzy is Andrews cousin. She is a smart girl, she is also Millies classmate. She is good at DIY. And now she is going to do some DIY. Lets watch a movie first, then answer two questions.A: What is she making?B: What does she need for that?4. Encourage the students to answer the questions by themselves.“So we know, the paper roses are Suzys DIY. You can have a try after class.” Now think “Whats DIY exactly?”Step3 Presentation 1. Show some pictures to explain what DIY is.Picture 1: “The man has a bike. Maybe his bike is broken. He pays an old man 2yuan to repair it.” Pay attention to “pay sb. to do” (write it on the blackboard)Picture 2: “The boy has a bike too. His bike is broken too. But he repairs it by himself.” Then choose which one is DIY? The students may choose “P2”2. More about DIY, show the pictures “DIY T-shirts” and “Corss Stitth. 3. Sum up:Learn the words: exactly, repair, decorateLearn the phrases: stand for, instead of, pay sb. to do. Pay attention to “instead of (doing) sth.” (write it on the blackboard)Step3 Practice: (learn part B on P43) 1. T: “Millie is coming. She and Suzy are talking about DIY. Listen to their conversation and work in pairs and talk about something you would like to do. Use the conversation as a model.2. Practice reading the dialogue in pairs and get some pairs to make a new conversation.3. Do some exercise.Step4 Presentation(learn the comic)1. T: Its time to have fun. Do you know Eddie? Do you know Hobo? Eddie is a yellow and fat dog, and he is very lazy. He just likes eating and sleeping. Hobo is an e-dog. He is Eddies good friend. He is cute and kind. Today, Eddie and Hobo have some work to do now. Lets meet them again.2. Play the tape for students to listen and answer:A: Does Eddie help Hobo put in the new house?B: What should Hobo do? Encourage students to give the answers.Answers: 1) Read the instructions.2) Get some tools.3) put in his new house by himself.3. Play the tape again for students to repeat.Pay attention to “Youd better (not) do sth.” (write it on the blackboard)Step5 PracticeAct out the dialogue in pairs.
