A Brief Instruction to theLesson 40 The UN-The Power of WordsGood afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Wan Fei. I come from Qiaoshan Middle School in Pucheng. Today Im going to talk about lesson 40 The UN-The Power of Words. I will divide the instruction into four parts:they are Teaching material Analysis, Teaching aims, emphasis, difficulties, Teaching methods, Teaching aids and Teaching procedures.Part 1 Teaching material analysisThis lesson is from Unit 7 of Grade 9. First of all, Id like to talk about my understanding about this lesson. In this Unit, we learn about peace. In this lesson we will talk about the UN which is an organization to work for peace. The main ideas of the lesson are the information about the UN and cultivating students love for peace. So it is very important for students to have a right value of life.Part 2 Teaching aims1.Aim of knowledge words : suffer, headquarters, security, council, permanent, situation, satisfyphrases: suffer through, World War II, the UN, the secretary-General, the UN Security Council, permanent member2. Aim of ability To know about the information about the UN Improving students reading skills.3. Aim of emotion To cultivate students love for peaceTeaching emphasisKey words and useful pharase.The information about the UN.Teaching difficultiesSome difficult sentences.Part 3 Teaching methodsIn this lesson, I will use five-step teaching method and Task-based language teaching method. I design some tasks to help the students learn. I think if I want to improve the students English, I should give them enough chances to practice and I will use pair work, group work to let the students take an active part in all kinds of activities. That is “Learning by doing, learning by using”. Let the students be the masters of the class, thus, student-centered teaching method is well shown.Part 7 Teaching procedureStep .Lead-inI use a short period of video to arouse the students interest of study.How do you feel when you see it?Let students talk about their feelings.Step New wordsThere are many new words and phrases in this lesson. It is necessary to master them before they begin to learn the text. So first I have to teach them the words and phrases. Then they need some time to recite them as quickly as they can. Finally, I use a game to check the words and phrases. It is a good way to arouse students interests.Step Listening task1 Ask students to read the T or F questions first , then listen carefully and find the answers.2 Check the answers one by one.Step IV Reading task1 Ask students to read the text again. This time, they need to pay attention to some details and fill in the chart. It is to improve students scanning skills.2. If time is enough, encourage students to retell the text according to the chart.Step V. Language pointsWork in groups to talk about the language points, and then explain them briefly. Make the students the master of the class, if they have some difficulties, the teacher gives them some help.Ask students to make sentences with phrases that we have learned.Step VISelf-checkThe purpose is to check the students if they master the useful word and phrases. The first one is much easier, most of the students can work it out, while the second one is more difficult.It can satisfy the needs of different levels of students.Step VII. Summary and homeworkDuring this class,we know the UN works on keeping peace. As an ordinary peo
