Martial Artsn Primitive Chinese Ancestors learned the primary means of attack, such as kicking and bare hand fighting. n This is how Martial Arts started.n It is a tradition that has been developed over a long period of time.n It is a full compact sport.Under the heading of Wushu.Styles of Martial Artsn Aikido - Aikido is a Japanese martial art focused on redirecting the attack away from you. It involves grabs, strikes, throws, pins and locks. Steven Seagal, the movie actor, is a famous student of Aikido. n Boxing - Think Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. This fighting style is focused purely on powerful punches. There is no kicking or grappling allowed. More Stylesn Jujutsu or Jiu-Jitsu - This Japanese martial focuses on joint locks, holds and throws. It tries to redirect or manipulate the force of an attack in order to defeat the attacker n Judo - This Japanese martial art focuses on grappling, joint locks and throws. Punches and kicks are generally not practiced during Judo. Karate!n Karate - This popular Japanese martial art focuses on punches, hand/elbow strikes, knee strikes and kicks. This style was highlighted in movies such as The Karate Kid. Wax on, wax off!Martial Artsn Lee was born in Chinatown, San Francisco on 27 November 1940 to parents from Hong Kong and was raised in Kowloon with his family until his late teens, he was introduced into film industry by his father and appeared in several films as a child actor. Lee moved to United States at the age of 18 to receive his higher education, it was during this time that he began teaching martial arts. Lee returned to Hong Kong in 1971 and played his first leading role, which made him famous across the world. Martial Arts in Britainn Very popular all over the country for children and adults, men and women.n Lots of youth clubs and community centres offer martial arts services.n There are a lot of Martial Arts Associations to help professionals.n Seen as a very challenging and interesting sport.Sportsn Chinan Variety of Competitive Sports n Chinese culture- regards physical exercise as important aspect!n Has its own national quadrennial multi sports event like the Olympics.n Badminton, football, table tennis and basket ball are main sports. n UKn Helped to establish a range of major international sports, such as rugby, snooker and football.n Helped to develop sports such as Formula One and Sailing.n Most popular sports in the UK are football, cricket, golf and rugby.Badmintonn Has a History of over two thousand years ago.n In the 5th Century BC, Chinese people played a game called ti jian zi, where they had to kick a shuttle around and not let it hit the ground.n Five centuries later a game named battle dore and shuttlecock was played in China, Japan, India and Greece.n This is a game where you use the battledore (paddle) to hit the shuttlecock back and forth.n By the 16th Century it became very popular for children in England.n In the 1860s this game was played in India but with the added net. It was named Poonan The British army learned this game and took it back to Britain.n In 1873, the Duke of Beaufort held a lawn party in his country place, Badminton. A game of Poona was played on that day and became popular among the British societys elite. The new party sport became known as the Badminton game. In 1877, the Bath Badminton Club was formed and developed the first official set of rules.History of British footballn Football was played in England as far back as medieval times. The first written evidence of a football match came in about 1170, when William Fitzstephen wrote of his visit to London, After dinner all the youths of the city goes out into the fields for the very popular game of ball. He also went on to mention that each trade had their own team, The elders, the fathers, and the men of wealth come on horseback to view the contests of their juniors, and in their fashion sport with the young men; and there seems to be aroused in these elders a stirring of natural heat by viewing so much activity and by participation in the joys of unrestrained youth.
