Ability objects:1) Students will be encouraged to catch the main idea of the passage by skimming, scanning and careful reading.2) Students can use previous knowledge to predict what a text is about.3) Students can apply the kill in the steps after reading, like role play and homework.3. Moral objects:1) Students can feel that theres no play like hometown.2) Students will be encouraged to see the problem in a ciritical way and show their opinion whether to leave hometown or stay.3) Students will be intersted in the topic and be willing to share their opinion.Teaching Key Points:1. Some new words and expressions in this period.2. How can students use previous knowledge to predict what a text is about.3. Understand the text well and show their own choice whether to leave hometown or stay.Teaching Difficult Point:1. Students will find it hard to use previous knowledge to predict what a text is about.2. How to use the language points learned in the text. 3. The role play will be a big challenge for students.Teaching Procedures:Step 1 Warming up and lead-in1. Enjoy a short video edited from the movie Lost On Journey.2. Free talk Encourage students to answer the following questions by using their previous knowledge. (Show some pictures to help them if they find it difficult to answer.)(1) Why do these people go back hometown?(2) What does hometown mean to them?(3) Why do they leave their hometown?(4) How often do you think these people visit their hometown?3. Show the reading strategy to students: Try to guess what a passage is about by using previous knowledge. Answering questions before we read helps us do this.Step 2 Reading1. SkimmingLet students read the passage quickly and choose the style of the text.2. Scanning Let students read the passage quickly and find out how the article develops.3. Careful reading (1) Para 1 Zhong Weis experience Ask students to read paragraph 1 carefully and underline the answers to the following questions.1) How old is Zhong Wei?2) Where does he work now?3) How long has he lived in Wen Zhou?4) How long hasnt he been back hometown?5) Why cant he visit his hometown?6) How does he feel? Lead students to think deeply about the inner meaning of the sentence: Its a shame.Its a shame for Zhong Wei, because he hasnt been back hometown for 3 years.(Present a picture in the passage to students.)For a teacher stays in the hometown all the time, its a shame for people like Zhong Wei. They only think of themselves and help their hometown with nothing.The teacher also regards himself as a shame, because he cant change the poor situation in his hometown alone.(2) Para 2 &3 Hometown developments Present two pictures in the passage to students and let them talk about the changes in Zhong Weis hometown. Strategy-introduction: Try to guess what a passage is about by using previous knowledge. Talking about pictures before we read helps us do this. Ask students to read paragraph 2&3 carefully and fill in the chart. Lead students to think deeply about the inner meaning of the sentence: My hometown cannot always stay the same!Studnets will know that something will never change about hometown. (3) Para 4 Unchangeable things Let students read paragraph 4 carefully and make the choice. Lead them to know that soft and sweet memories about hometown will never change. Theres no place like hometown.Step 3 SummaryAsk students to complete the summary in 2c with words from the passage. Step 4 Role playAsk students to work in groups of four. One student works as a reporter and the rest are interviewees. Make an interview among them about whether they will leave hometown or stay there in 10 or 20 years.Step 5 Homework1. Choose one aspect to write an interview report. Give at least 3 reasons to support your view. (You can use your previous knowledg
