Unit 7 Itraining! Section B(1a-1e)Teaching design This lesswon is taken from Section B, Unit 7 in book 2,Go for it. The topic is Itraining! The teaching design is made up of seven parts.Part One: Analysis of the teaching materialsThis is an important lesson in this unit. This lesson is the second one of Unit 7. Its a typical listening lesson. If the Ss can learn it well, it will be helpful to make the Ss learn the rest of this unit. In this lesson, the Ss learn how to talk about weather. Such a topic is related closely to their daily life and can raise their learning interests. So learning it well can improve their listening ability and spoken English. Part two: Analysis of the studentsAs we all know, students in Class 7 have learned English for several years and have mastered a certain number of vocabularies. Whats more, they have formed some scientific learning methods and learning habits. However, students in Class 7 are poor in learning English; especially they are afraid to speak English in public occasion. So they should guided and encouraged to speak English usually and loudly in class. Part three: Teaching aims and demands1. Knowledge Objects(1)To study the new words and phrases “hot,wet,worm,dry,cool.cold”(2) to make the Ss know how to use the sentences patterns“Whats the weather like?” “Hows the weather? ”.Let the Ss be able to express different kinds of weather as many as possible, as loudly as possible, as clearly as possible.2. Ability Objects(1) Develop the Ssabilities of listening , speaking and reading.(2) Train the Ssability of working in pairs.(3) Develop the Ssabilities of communication by learning the useful structures.3. Moral ObjectsEncourage the Ss to keep in good mood in different weather and keep trying when facing differenties!4 .Teaching key and difficult pointsa. Key points(1) To help the Ss to improve their listening ability and spoken English.(2) To develop the Ssabilities of communication by learning the useful structures.b. Difficult pointsLet the Ss be able to express their favorite entertainment clearly and correctly.5. Teaching Aids In this lesson, the teacher needs a multimedia computer to show slides, besides a blackboard. Part four: The teaching methodsIn this lesson, Ill mainly use “Communicative”teaching method, “Audio-visual”teaching method and “Task-based”teaching method. That is to say, Ill give the Ss some tasks and arrange some kinds of activities in this lesson, such as listening, spoken English competition, guessing games, and making a report. Part five: learning methodsThe students are requested to study English creatively and independently. At the same time, the Cooperative Learning method can make the tasks and activities finished more easily. Part six: Teaching proceduresStep 1 Lead-inBrain storming: Let the Ss enjoy a song. Then ask the following questions: What is the topic of this song?What kind of weather have you heard? What kind of weather do you like? Purpose of my designing: I think the song can attract the Ss attention and arouse their interest to talk about their opinion . At the same time ,I can lead in the word studying naturally.Step 2 Learning new words and phrases1. Presentation: Present the pictures of different weather on the screen by using multimedia computer and answer the following questions: “Whats the weather like?” “Hows the weather? ”2. Ask the Ss to match the pictures with the correct phrases on page 68 of the book 2. Then ,devide the ss into 6 groups for this class named by the new words. 3. Check the answers with the whole class.4. Pair works: Let Ss practice the small dialogue according to these phrases. “Whats the weather like?” “Its.”Purpose of my designing: Presenting the new words and phrases about weather for the Ss to learn and grasp the meanings. Then,a real life condition will be given to them.Pair works can consolidate the new learnt phrases and sentences patterns .Step 3 Pre-listening Before listening, the Ss are required to answer the question “Hows it going?”, I want them to get the meaning of this sentence. Because the listening material is a little difficult for the Ss.Purpose of my designing: to make the Ss understand the listening material more easily and deal with the difficult language points.Step 4 ListeningLet the Ss listen to the conversation between Mary and Eric . Pay attention to their pronunciation and intonation. And then check the answers with the Ss.Step 5 Post-listeningAfter listening, the Ss are asked to make conversation according to it.Purpose of my designing: to get the Ss retell Mary and Erics life.Step 6 Weather report I will show a weather map of china.ss could talk about it in groups and make a report. Purpose of my designing: to make the Ss practice speaking English in public. In this way, the Ss are full of self-confidence and eager to show off what their have learnt. It also helps to develop their team spirit.Step 7 summaryInterview what we have leant and find out the best group.Purpose of my designing: I think summary is important for the Ss to consolidate the knowledge they learned. Step 8 homework: Watch the weather
