To talk about their preferences To know the implied meaning of some animals2. 情感态度价值观目标:动物和人类都生活在同一地球上,动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处,共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物,保护动物。二、教学重难点1. 教学重点:1) 学会描述动物的性格及特点。2) 学会表达喜欢某类动物及说明喜欢的原因。2. 教学难点:名词的复数形式表示一类事物;第三人称单数形式三、教学过程. Warming-up and lead-in To create an English environment and light up the atmosphere, the teacher shows the class some pictures and a short video of the kung fu panda. And ask the questions:“Do you like pandas? And why?Then have them to answer “Because they are.” to lead in the title of this unit. Presentation1. Ask them to look at the pictures on PPT and try to pronounce the animal words and descriptive words according to the phonetic symbols. And then the teacher check their pronounciations and correct mistakes if any and ask the students to pay attention. Next, repeat the words several times. Finally, ask students to spell the words one by one to memorize them on the spot, and encourage them to link animal words with descriptive words. 2. Game time (to go over and practice the animal words). The guessing game. Ask Ss to guess the animals according to a small piece of the pictures on the big screen. Whac-a-Mole (打地鼠). (play three times) The first and second time, Ss of a small group look at the picture and try to speak out the animals words one by one. The third time, ask the whole class to join the game.3. Next, ask students to turn to page 25 and match the pictures with the words in 1a. Invite one student to check the answers with the class. . Listening practiceWork on 1b. 1. Tell Ss to listen to the tape and check the animals they hear in 1a. Play the recording again and check the answers with the class. 2. Listen again and fill in the blanks. (listen twice) Give students 10 seconds to go through the listening material. The first time, listen and write answers. The second time, invite three students to write their answers on the board. Check answers together, lead them to pay attention to some language points. Role-play the conversations. Pair work 1. Ask the students to imagine “ We are in the zoo, there are many kinds of animals here.” Then show a sample conversation to students. Lets see the lions first. Why? (why do you like lions?) Because they are interesting. (smart, fun.)2. Ss work with their partners practice the conversation using the animals in 1a. . Consolidation T: Do you want to see the animals caged in the zoo, lonely, unhappy or see them run in the wild, happily and stay with their families?S: In the zoo!T: Then“Lets help the animals in the zoo.” Explain the rule. (Make a complete sentence using the animal words and descriptive words learned in this period.)Lead students free the animals one by one.Then show them a short video to see the endangered animals and recall their love and compassion for the animals, and try to protect them.
