Unit 7 Its raining! Good morning teachers, it is my great honor to have this opportunity to present my teaching ideas here. My presentation is about It is raining. My presentation consists of five parts as followings;Part 1, the analysis of teaching materialsThis lesson is about Section A(1a-2), Unit 7 of Book 2 Go for it, published by People s Education Press in 2012. this textbook focuses on cultivating the students comprehensive ability as well as developing their independent learning ability. The topic of this unit weather is very practical, and this section focuses on the description of weather, and reviewing the language structure of the present progressive tense. Part 2, the analysis of students My students are in Grade 7, they are in the transition period from concrete image thinking to abstract logical thinking. Thus, it is necessary to create interesting images and activities to promote their perception of the language in order to facilitate their rational thinking. Additionally, they have already learnt some basic words as well as language structure, which pave their way for studying this lesson. Part 3, the teaching methodsAccording to the analysis of students, I combine the audio-visual teaching method, the communicative teaching method, and task-based teaching method together. Moreover, I prepare computer, cards, globes and tape recorder as my teaching aids. Part 4 Teaching objectives. According to the above analysis, I focus on my teaching objectives as followings,Firstly, the knowledge objective is that by this lesson, the students are expected to grasp the vocabulary on weather, such as raining, windy, cloudy, sunny, and snowing and so on, as well as to describe what they are doing by using the present progressive structure. . Secondly, the ability objective is that the students are expected to be able to describe weather and they are doing.Thirdly the emotional objective is to, make the students get the diversity of the world climate, to stimulate their interest in learning English as well as to deepen their understanding on language functions.The important and difficult point is the special question of Hows the weather? ; the adjectives of weather and the be doing structure related to the weather . Part five is the teaching procedures, which is the most important part. It concludes mainly five steps. Step one, playing the CCTV weather report as the led-in to review the old words such as sun, cloud, rain and so on, as well as to warm up the class atmosphere. The students are asked to collect weather icons before class. Talk about the meaning and study the new words, raining, windy, cloudy, sunny, snowing, etc. In the process, I will guild the students to discover the relationship between noun and adjectives to reduce the cognition burden. Two students do pair work to practice the language structure hows weather in Beijing it is sunny.Step two, completing the match task in 1a, which provides the basic concept for the whole unit, guiding the students know the meaning of words. Play the world weather report of big cities, to make the students get familiar with the world famous buildings and their weather condition, in order to deep the students understanding on the diversity of the world. Step three, create a context that Mr. Zhang is a businessman, he is going to some cities for business, to indicates the cities of Beijing, Moscow, Toronto, Boston and Shanghai on the globe, Whats the weather like there? Can you help him make some notes? Let the students listening to the tape and complete the following form. City Beijing MoscowToronto Boston Shanghai Weather Step four, Complete the 2a to 2c, as the students have already studied the present progressive tense, this part focuses on reviewing the structure by doing role play, to practice what are you doing? I am reading Step five,twos students do pair work to perform phone calling, the student answer question according to the cards the she/he is distributed to practice the language structure how the weather? What are you doing. Then exchange the cards with other groups to do practice. Step six, playing a silent flash which present the weather condition and dynamic characters, and let the students to do dubbing, using the hows the weather? What does he doing” the weather is sunny, he is xx. In the process, give the students positive evaluations to make them get successful experience. Step five is assigning homework; 1. Firstly make a daily weather report and Listen to the CCTV weather report to make a form as followingCity Beijing Shijiazhuang Taiyuan Weather Secondly, call a friend or relatives who live in another city to ask what he or she and his or her family members are doing when he/she calls.
