一堂小学英语句型新授课宁远县教师进修学校 陈玮Teaching content:Unit Three “ Whats your favorite food? ” in the fifth volume of Hunan Childrens Press.Introduction of my students: My students are in Grade 5, they are interested in English, especially games played with English, but some have difficulty in finishing the task, so I have to practice more with them in class, and make teaching content easier so as to help them catch up.Introduction of my design of this lesson: This unit needs three classes to study: focus of the first class is to learn new words about food; the second class is about to learn a sentence structure “Whats your favorite food? My favorite food is. ”, this is also the focus and difficult points of this unit; the third class is to review all the words and sentence pattern; go through context and finish some exercises. Below is my teaching designing of the second class. Lesson two Whats your favorite food?I. Teaching Aims: 1.Review the words of food learned last class: tomato, tofu, green beans, fish, potato and eggplant. 2. Learn and master a new sentence pattern : Whats your favorite food? My favorite food isStudents be able to use the words to answer the question. 3. Develop students basic ability of listening and speaking. Enable them to use the structure freely in real situation. 4. Develop students consciousness of cooperation and competition.II. Teaching method and study method Audio-lingual method, communicative approach, task-based language teaching approach, TPR and games.III. Focus & Difficult Points: Students are required to master the sentence of “ Whats your favorite food? My favorite food is”IV. Teaching Preparation: 1. Hanging pictures of food 2. Word cards 3. Radio and tape 4. Papers of questionnaire for studentsV. Teaching Steps: 1. Warm up ( 5 min )Greetings and Games with ReviewT: hello, boys and girls, I will play a guessing game with you. Now listen to me: Im yummy to eat. Im purple and long. My name begins with the letter as “e”. What am I ? (eggplant) Talking: Help student create more riddles to recall the food words they have learned. Show pictures about food if them give the correct answer. Listen to tape of Lets learn, review the words after radio. Then put the hanging pictures of food on the left of blackboard, and ask students: Whats this? Its Do you like it? Lead in: Whats your favorite food? My favorite food is ( write it on blackboard and read one more time.)2. Presentation (12 min)Help students understand the word of “favorite” in TPR. Write it on the middle of blackboard, read the word, and students repeat. Presentation the new sentence: Whats your favorite food? My favorite food is ( Practice it for many times until students master it. )Ask students to use the words they have learned to answer the question. And then show the other words in the same way. Use game “ High and low voice ” to practice this sentence. That is, If teacher reads/asks this sentence in high voice, students should read/answer it in low voice. If teacher reads/asks this sentence in low voice, students should read/answer it in high voice. 3. Group work ( 8 min) Ladder Game: Draw a ladder on the right of the blackboard. Divide students into four teams. Compete in groups to practice the words by sentence: Whats your favorite food ? My favorite food is. One team plays as teacher to propose questions, students in other teams must answer questions correctly and quickly to get one point so as to climb one step on the ladder. For example, Team 1 answers correctly and quickest to move ahead one step closer to their goal. Praise the winner with applause. 4. Consolidation and extension (10 min) Distribute the papers of questionnaire like below. Require students to do investigation with partner about their favorite food and finish the table below:NameFavorite foodGo around the classroom and help students as needed, check the progress. Ask students to display their work in front of the classroom if finished. In this part, some students may have difficulty to understand the rule of it, teacher can use Chinese to explain the plan and model one or two examples if necessary. Also teacher has to check the progress and offer help as needed.5. Exercises and homework ( 5min) Write down
