Lesson PlanUnit12 What did you do last weekend?Teaching ideology The current theory views listening and speaking as an interactive process. This process does not only involve the printed page but also the listeners general knowledge of the world and of the language. During the process of listening and speaking, all these factors interact with each other and compensate for each other. Based on the understanding of listening and speaking as an interactive process, an interactive teaching model of listening and speaking should be adopted to help students develop their listening strategies and increase their listening efficiency. According to the new English curriculum, language classroom should be Ss-centered. And their comprehensive language competence should be developed by listening and speaking activities before and after listening.Teaching material and learning condition The analysis of teaching materialThe listening and speaking material is from Go for it! Unit12. The Topics of this unit are past events. It consists of two parts, including past activities and special questions. The passage is not difficult though it includes some new words and phrases. The analysis of learning conditionThe Ss are in Grade 1, Junior. They have learned some words and phrases about past events in Unit11, and have formed their own opinions about these activities. Their previous knowledge can lessen the difficulty of listening. But the Ss are likely to make mistakes when they describe past events.The rearrangement of the teaching materialThe material is rearranged according to the analyses of the listening material and learning condition. For the first period of listening, another activityfill in the blanks, is added to develop Ss ability of catching the key information and the ability of listening and writing quickly. For the second period of listening, another activitymake a report, is added to develop Ss ability of putting what they have learned into communication.Learning objectivesBy the end of the class, Ss will be able to: 1. Language skills1) Predict the content according to the pictures.2) Listen and write down the key information quickly.3) Talk about past events freely.2. Language knowledge1) Use the useful words and expressions properly:camp, lake, beach, badminton, sheep., went to the cinema, went boating, camped by the lake, went to the beach, played badminton, fed some sheep.2) Read and use the sentence patterns freely:A: What did you do last weekend?A: On Saturday morning, I . Warming-up (3min)T: Hows the weather today? How was the weather last weekend? How was your weekend? What did you do last weekend?T: Wow, do did so many things. I think most of you had a good time. Can you guess what I did last weekend?Teaching NotesOn the one hand, students can start an English class in a relaxing way and it can arouse students interest; on the other hand, free talking can help students have a good review of past tense.Step2. Presentation (6min)Please look at the pictures. On Saturday morning, it was sunny. So I played the badminton. In the afternoon, I went to the beach. It was relaxing. And at night, I camped by the lake with my family. It was really exciting. The next morning, it was cloudy. On Sunday morning, I went boating. I could see clear water and a lot of fish swimming. At night, I went to the cinema and saw a great film. Step 3. Practice (3min)1. You see, I also had a wonderful weekend. Look at the picture on page 67. There is a girl with yellow hair. She is Lucy. What did she do last weekend? Lets look at the pictures a-f and match the activities with the pictures. 2. Check the answers (use the whole sentence, and pay attention to the weather) S1: Lucy did her homework in picture a. It was snowy outside. S2: She went to the cinema in picture d. .Step 4. Guessing game (2min)Look at the pictures and guess: What did he/she do last weekend?Teaching Notes These activities are designed to consolidate the new words and phrases, which lays a good foundation for the listening.Step 5. Listening (8min)1. What did Lucy do last Saturday morning, afternoon, evening and last Sunday? Please look at the picture on page 67. There are some blanks. This time, please listen and write down the time.2. Check the answers.3. Now please close your book, listen and fill in the chart. You can write the first two letters quickly.
