教学设计陕师大附中 连维华 Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?Period 1 Listening and speakingAnalysis of the Teaching MaterialsThe topic of Unit 5 is about animals. What, Why and Where questions are the key structures. After learning, the students can talk about animals fluently with the key vocabulary and the key structures. This unit starts with a video and free talk between the teacher and the students about some familiar animals, then do some practice to improve the students listening and speaking skills, reviewing the old contents and learning the new ones.Analysis of the StudentsThe students have already learned a lot about Simple Present Tense and Wh- questions before. Also, they have already previewed the key words of this period. Also, most of the students are quite familiar with animals. So they are able to have listening and speaking practice in different ways.Teaching Aims1. Knowledge Aims:Vocabulary: panda, tiger, elephant, lion, giraffe, animal, kind, Australia, south, Africa, cute, lazy, smart, beautiful, friendly, shy.Sentence patterns: -What animals do you like? - I like -Why do/dont you like ? -Because they are-Where are they from? -They are from2. Ability Aims: After the listening and speaking practice, the students will be able to ask Wh- questions and answer them. Meanwhile, they can talk about the animals freely.3. Moral Aims: Talking about the animals openly and freely will make the students more interested in animals. Moreover, it will arouse the students love for animals.4. Learning Strategies: Audio-lingual method, situational method, and cooperative learning method5. Culture: After learning, the students will have new understanding of the animals.Teaching Methods:Task-based learning, RPG( role-play game ) ,chain gameTeaching Aids:PPT, board, handoutTeaching Key Points:The students can talk about animals with target language freely.Teaching Difficulties:The students can use the plural form of the animal to show what kind it belongs to, and use the description words correctly and properly.Teaching Procedures:Teaching activities:Learning activities:Purposes:Step 1: Lead-in &BrainstormingPlay a video of animals.Brainstorm more words for animals and description.1.Draw students attention.2. Review the words for animals and description. Prepare for the following pair work.Step 2: Pair workMake conversationswith some of the students.Talk about animals with their partners.1. Introduce the key sentence patterns and practice.2. Consolidate the key words.Step 3: Listening practice1. Explain “very” and “kind of”.2. Play the tape twice.1. Fill in the blanks.2. Matching activity.3. Use one or two sentences to describe the animals.1. Introduce another target language and the words for places.2. Make preparation for the following activity.Step 4: Group work1. Lead the students to go over the words for places.2. Explain the rules for the chain game.1. Practice asking and answering in turns.2. Ask different quest-ions about an animal.1. Help the students to focus on one thing.2. Make the asking and answering fun.Step5: Role-play an animal & make a report1. Give students masks and ask them to act animals.2. Show the students some questions and a sample report. 1. Get the mask and discuss the given questions in group of six.2. Every one in the group should say at least one different sentence.3. Co-operate to make a report.1.Role-playing is an effective way to practice the target language.2.The experience of being an animal can not only stimulate the students love for the animals, but also deepen the students understanding of animals.Step 6: Picture appreciationShow some wonderfulpictures to the students and describe them briefly.Watch and think about how to treat the animals.Help the students realize that animals and humans are one family.Step 7: SummaryHelp the students to make a summary.Think about the main contents quietly, and then make a presentation.Improve the skills of making a summary.Step 8: HomeworkWrite about what animals your parents like.1.Consolidate the target language.2.Arouse their love for their parents.Reflection(教学反思)Give the students more time and chance to practice the target languages.Designing on the BoardUnit 5 Why do you like pandas?panda cute -Wha
