Read and write the main words and phrases: candy, lucky, candle, around the world, make a wish, blow out, get popular, bring good luck to and cut up.2. Know different countries have different birthday food, but the ideas are the same.3. Infer vocabulary from pictures and know the reading skills.Teaching important point:Lead the students to describe something about birthday by using the new words and language points.Teaching difficult point:Help the students to learn the reading skills: fast and careful reading skills.Teaching methods:Communicative language teaching method, Task-based language teaching method and group work method.Teaching aids:Chalk, PPT, a projector and a computer.Teaching progress:Step. Leading in.1. Greetings.2. Broadcast a birthday song and chant the song together.Step. Presentation:1. Talk about what they eat and do.-When is your birthday?-Its on July 3rd.-What do you eat on your birthday?-Dumplings and noodles.-Who makes for you?-My mother.-Maybe you can do the dishes after eating. Will you do that?-Of course.-What do you do on your birthday?-See a film with my parents.2. Show some pictures to help the students guess the meaning of new words and phrases.Such as: candy, lucky, make a wish, blow out, in one go, cut up.Step .Reading.1. Fast reading. Task one: Match the main idea of each paragraph. Task two: Read the passage again. Judge true or false.2. Careful reading. Finish 2b.Ask the students to discuss in group of four. And answer the question.Do some explanation then show and check the answers. Finish 2c.Ask students to finish these questions and then check the answers together.Step. Conclusion Read the words just learnt. Make a summary: All the birthday foods may be different, but the ideas are the same. They bring good luck to the birthday person.Homework:1.
