The lecture notes of Section B 1a2c, Unit 4 of Book2 Ladies and Gentlemen, Its my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you . The content of my lesson is Book2 , Unit 4, Section B 1a-2c. Part 1 Teaching material analysis (一)Status and Function The topic of this unit is transportation . It helps students to learn about some kinds of transportation and some traffic rules. This can enable them to pay attention to the signs of traffic and care for each other whenever crossing the roads .Furthermore, Ill ask students to imagine the transportation in the future boldly . Its a novelty of this lesson . (二)Analysis of the students The students in middle school like to show themselves . By completing all kinds of tasks , the students can build up their learning interest and self- confidence .(三) Teaching Aims and Demands:1. Knowledge Objects Key vocabulary Oral practice 2. Ability ObjectsListening skill3. Moral ObjectsKnow about some signs of traffic(四)Teaching Keys PointsKey vocabulary :bus station , bus stop ,train station , subway station (五)Teaching Difficult Points:Oral practice using the target language : talk about how to get to places (using 2 or 3 kinds of transportation )(六)Teaching Aids: a recorder ,CAI Part 2 Teaching methods The main instructional aims of learning English is to cultivate students basic abilities of listening ,speaking, reading, and writing and their good sense of the English language . So in this lesson , I ll mainly use “ task-based ” teaching method . It offers an opportunity to complete the tasks which can help students to get a better understanding of the key structures of the conversation . Whats more , scene method , communicative teaching method will be needed.Part 3 Study methods Each unit in “Go for it ” contains many activities , some of which need to be finished by students independently and some by cooperation , for example , pairwork ,groupwork and games . Tha latter can make students be relaxed . They neednt worry about making mistakes .It can arouse students to think and say what they want to say .Part 4 Teaching ProceduresStep 1 Warming upSing an English song Purpose : to attract the students attention and to create a relaxed atmosphere.Step 2 Review1. Look at the trainsportation pictures and identify them: a train , a bus , walk, a subway, a bike , a car, a taxi, a plane ,ect.2. Ask and answer Talk about how students get to school and how long it takes.S1: How do you get to school? S2: I get to school by bike.S1:How long does it take you to get to school ? S2: 15 minutes.Purpose : to review learnt language and elicit the new language points.Step 3 Presentation 1.Show some pictures on the screen and say something about them : This is a stops here.3. Teach the key vocabulary : bus stop , bus station ,train station, subway station4. Finish 1a : match the words with the pictures.5. Check the answer. Purpose: to let the students acquire the new knowledge unconsciously .Step 4 PairworkSuppose you use two kinds of transportation to get to school ( bus ,train, subway, walking ,bike ,ect.). Tell how you get to school.Talk like this : A: How do you get to school ? B: Well, I ride my bike to the subway station . Then I take the subway.Then make a survey : Where did you go during National Day ? How did you get there?(show them a map of China and introduce some big cities ,bus station, train station and subway station ) Purpose : to provide an opportunity for students to use the target language to make a conversation to train the students creative competence .Step 5 Listening ( 2a,2b)Show them a chart Name NinaAge14LifestyleExercise, eat vegetables every dayNationalityAmericaLive inNew Street, New York 1.Ask some questions about Nina: (1)How old is she ? (2) Does she have a healthy lifestyle ?(3) Where does she live ? (4) Do you want to know more about her ?2.Listen and check the things that Thomas wants to know .3. Check the answer 4.Listen again . Ask “How does Nina get to school?” check 1 or 25. Check tha answer Purpose : to improve Students listening skill Step 6 Groupwork 1.Tell how Nina gets to school and talk like this : A: How does Nina get to school ? B: First, she C: Next, she D: Then , she E: At last, she2.Make a survey(work in groups and talk like the structure above)Name PlacesHow did you get there?3. Make a report (Which group is the best?)Purpose : to make the students consolidate the target language by practicing the conversation and train the students spirit of cooperation and teamwork .Step 7 Extention Teacher : How time flies! 2050 is coming . We can go almost anywhere we want to . For example , the Great Wall, America, Egypt ,the North Pole, and moon . How are we going there ? Now ,use you head and imagine the transportation in 2050 . Help students to list the following transportation : hot ballon , UFO, spaceship and some transportation like a broom or a bee,ect. Then ask students to try to use the structure in 2c to make conversations.Purpose: to cultivate the students imagination .Step 7 Summary and homeworkIn this lesson., we have learnt some words and had oral practice . Afther class ask your parents how they get to offices .Next class Ill ask some of you to report to the class.Purpose : Its necessary for students to do some exten
