Then give the students time to practice reading and then check by asking some pairs to have a race to read and spell them.Step 2 PresentationAsk: Look at these people carefully and guess: What kind of people are they?Is she confident? Is he outgoing? Can you tell me when you see them at once? Get one to say his or her ideas. The tell them to do 1a in small groups. Then do Pair work by asking : What are you like? Step 3 Survey1. Say: Class, do you think you are confident? And how confident are you? Ill do a survey in our class? Would you like to join me? Well, look at the chart on Page 29, and read through the questions quickly and get someone to translate the sentences. Then do the survey in groups.2. Check the answers by asking the students to put their hands up to know which answer do they choose. And write down the results on the blackboard.Step 4 Listening1. Ask: Do you want to know how confident you are? Dont worry. Because Celia is also asking Bill some of the questions. Lets listen and find what questions Celia asks and what about Bills answers. 2.Check the answers together after listening as much as they can know the result. And then explain the difficult points, like: ask sb. to do sth./ without permission/ ask ones permission etc.Step 4 PresentationAs Bill has different answers to the same questions, You must want to know how confident you are very much. Now lets look at 3a., the Personality survey results. Here I have three tasks for you to do. Try to cheer up to finish them, will you?Step 5 Reading1. Read the text quickly and fill in the blanks with a, b. Because “c” has been used in the first paragraph. Give them one minute to do it. Then check the answer: c, a, b.2. Read the text again more carefully and get them to answer the following questions:1).What doesnt bother the pretty confident people?2). Is being so confident good enough?3). If you have plenty of friends, what kind of people are you like? 4). What do you like doing if you are shy?2. After their reading, ask some students for the answers and check them together.3. Get the students to read the letter twice as possible to understand it well enough.4. Listen to the tape and pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.Step 6 PracticeShow some exercises about what they just learned in this class to check whether they can grasp the contents or not.
