So all the languages and activities are designed to serve it. The Warming Up part helps students know some famous inventors and inventions. The reading passage is about a girl making an invention to get rid of The Problem of the Snakes. According to the reading passage, students can learn the stages to make an invention. Also from this part, students can improve their reading skills, such as predicting the content according to the title and the pictures, fast reading to get the main idea and the structure, careful reading to get the details, and retelling the text in their own words.学情分析: The students have already known some inventions and some famous inventors. And they have also had some reading skills. However, some students dont know how to learn efficiently. And they also feel it difficult to express what they think in English. So they need more practice to improve their reading and speaking ability.课堂设计理念: 普通高中英语新课程标准中提出,高中英语教学要鼓励学生通过积极尝试,自我探究,自我发现和主动实践等方式,形成具有高中生特点的英语学习的过程与方法。所以本课的设计通过不同形式的活动和练习,充分利用课本资源,进行适当的整合,引导学生积极主动的参与有层次,有梯度的学习活动,使学生逐步掌握本课的语言功能,完成语言应用的任务,从而发展探究知识和获取信息的能力。Teaching Aims:1. Knowledge aims:After the class, the students will be able to1) Learn something about the stages to make an invention.2) Learn some words and expressions, i.e. distinguish, product, powder, approach, attempt, patent2. Ability aims:After the class, the students will be able to 1) Improve reading ability by predicting the content according to the title, fast reading to get the main idea and the structure, careful reading to get the details, and retelling the text in their own words.2) Work in groups.3. Emotional aims:After the class, the students will be able to Learn to be creative in scientific stages and deal with problems in their daily life. Teaching Important Points:1. Talk about stages every inventor must go through.2. Help the students get the main idea and the structure.3. Enable the students to retell the text in their own words. Teaching difficult points: 1) Help the students talk about the procedures of making and invention and applying for a patent. 2) Help the students express their ideas about the problems given to them.教学策略设计:1. 贯彻任务型教学法,通过完成不同形式的练习和活动,教师进行适时的点拨,归纳总结阅读材料的信息。2. 以小组竞赛的方式进行合作型学习与探究,以激发兴趣的同时增强合作意识。Teaching Aids: 1. (group work)Lead to the topic “Inventors and inventions”Stage 2:Pre-reading(3 mins)Ask the students to put the stages of making an invention into the right order.To know the stages every inventor must go through before they get a patent.Stage 3While-reading30 mins)Step 1. Fast reading. (5 mins)1. Ask the students to predict the main idea according to the title and the pictures.2. Let the students read the text quickly to get the main idea and the structure.Step 2. Careful reading.1. Ask the students to read the text carefully to answer five questions. (When they answer the questions, the teacher writes down some key words on the blackboard. This is the preparation for the next taskretelling). (10 mins)1) What was the mother upset about? 2) Why did the girl need to find a new approach?3) What were the three creative approaches that the writer decided on? Which one did she use?4) What were the three attempts that the writer made to catch the snakes? Did she succeed?5) Do you think she could get a patent?2. Ask the students to retell the text.(group work) (15mins)(They should write down some key words and talk with their partners so that everyone can have a chance to talk. Then, choose some of them to retell the story to the whole class). Step 1.To get the main idea and the structure of the text. Step 2.1. To understand the passage by getting more details about how to make an invention to catch the snakes and how to get a patent.2. To express what they have learnt in their own words.Stage 4:Post-reading(5 mins)Conclude what they have learnt in this class and arouse them to be creative in their daily life.To arouse students interest to deal with problems in scientific ways, and learn to be creative in their daily life.Stage 5:Homework(2 mins)1. Write a summary of the text (use the words and sentences you have learnt in class) 2. Read the text carefully and underline the important words, expressions and sentences.1.
