Unit 8 Is there a post office near here?I. Teaching Goals: 1. Knowledge goals: (1)Words and phrases: post office, police station, hotel, restaurant, bank, hospital, street, pay, front, town, north, crossing, neighborhood, road, air, sunshine, money, across from, in front of, go along, turn right, spend time, enjoy reading (2)Target languages: Is there a restaurant near your house? Yes, there is. Its on Center Street. Wheres the supermarket? Its next to the library. Where are the pay phones? Theyre in front of the post office.2. Ability goals: Improve students listening skills. Have students learn how to ask for and give directions on the street.3. Emotion goals: Learn how to help each other. Develop students positive characters. Teaching Difficulties: How to use different direction words and sentences to ask for and give directions. Teaching Methods: communicative method, cooperative method, pair-work, group-work. Teaching Aids: PPT, some objects, pictures and short videos.IIV. Teaching process. Duty reportThe duty reporter play the MV, in this MV, the girl does different things in different places. The duty reporter asks the classmates according to the MV.Questions: What is she doing? Where is she? . Lead in.T: There are a lot of public places in the MV, so lets learn them together. . Presentation.A. Words1. Show some pictures of those places then ask students to think about the relative information about the places: moneybank, letterspost office, foodrestaurant etc. Meanwhile, put the word card on the blackboard.2. PK Game: Who is faster? Let two students have a match- give them relative words and see who is the faster to give the new words. 3. Ask students to read and spell them together, then finish the exercise in 1a.B. Prepositional phrases and new sentence4. Draw a street on the blackboard and put the word card “library” “pay phone” and “post office” on different locations. Then ask students: Where is the pay phone? Wheres the pay phone?Its across from/ in front of/ next to/between/behind/on the library.5. Ask several students to come to the blackboard and put the word card on different locations and asks: Where is the pay phone? The following students answer the question.
