Get students to master the new words and expressions by talking and listening .2. Get students to have a conversation using the langnage they have just learnt.Difficult points Get students to listen and understand the listening materials.Teaching approaches Speaking, teaching ,listening and practising.Teaching aids Some cards of the words, some pictures, colored chalk, a recorder and so on.Teahing proceduresStep 1 Greetings and introduction1. I say, Hello, My name is Wang Qin. Nice to meet you. And write: My name is Wang Qin. on the blackboard. Ask the students, Whats the meaning? Come up to one student, Say,T: My name is Wang Qin. Whats your name?S1:My name is . T: Nice to meet you. S1: Nice to meet you, too. T: Hello! Im Wang Qin. (Come up to another student.) Whats your name? S2: Hello! Im T: Nice to meet you. S2: Nice to meet you , too T: Hi! Im Wang Qin. (Come up to the third student.) S3: Hi! Im T: Nice to meet you. S3: Me, too. 2. Ask students to open their books and turn to Page1, and look at the picture in 1a.Read the conuersations after the tape.After that , I ask, “What are they doing?” in Chinese or in English. Help the students to answer.“They are introducing themselves and greeting people ” in English.3. Students read the conversations together.Step2 Listening and practiceFinish 1b.1 Before listening, teach students names: Alan, Mary,Jim,Jenny, Gina2 Play the tape twice.Ask students to listen carefully and number the conversations . 3 Check the answers. (2,1,3)Pairwork1. Ask students to practice the conversations in 1b in pairs.Then ask them to use their own names. While students are working .I move around the classroom, checking progress and offering help as needed.2. After students have practiced several times, ask some pairs to come to the front of the class, and greet each other using their real names.3. Congrulations to the best pair. Explain the difference between his and her.3. Liten to the conrersations and number the pictures Play the tape the first time . Students only listem. The second time, students number the pictures. Check the answers. Finish 2b1. Ask students to look at 2b. Point to the words in the box and say. This time, listen for these names in the conversations. Circle the names you hear.
