Good afternoon, everyone. Now Im glad to say “Go for it” Great 8 Book 1 Unit 10 Im going to be a basketball player.( the first period ). Ill divide the lesson into four parts.Part One : Teaching aims and demands 1.Knowledge objects1the key words and phrases “computer science / computer programmer / a professional basketball player / a pilot / an engineer / an actor / grow up / take acting lessons / practice basketball every day / study math really hard”etc. 2the key sentences :1. -What are you / they going to be when you /they grow up?-Im / We are going to be (a / an) 2. -What is she / he going to be when she / he grows up?- She / He is going to be a / an3. -How are you / they going to do that?-Im / We are going to 4. - How is she / he going to do that?- She / He is going to 2.Ability objectsEnable the students to talk about future intentions with the target language.3.Moral objectsEnable the Ss to love their lives and work .PartTwo:Teaching key and difficult pointsThe teaching key and difficult points basis is established according to Knowledge objects of this lesson in the teaching materials position and function1.Key points: The usage of “Be going to”structure.2.Difficult points:How to make dialogues with the target language and remember the key words. Make sure that they can use them freely and correctly.PartThree:Teaching aidsA tape recorder, word cards and pictures.Part Four:Teaching Procedures and ways:Step1 Lead-in Greet the students as usual , and let them talk abut their parents jobs. S1: My father is a , my mother is a S2: Write the words of jobs on the board ,review and learn more about jobs. Such as : doctor, teacher , policeman, waiter, actorStep2. New words learning.(1a) Show some cards to students and help them to learn some new jobs:computer programmer, basketball player, pilot , engineer ,teacher, actor study computer science How do you like these jobs? Now rank them please. (1is the most interesting, 6 is the least interesting)Check their answers and find out the most interesting job in the students opinion.Step3. Function presentation 1)Ask some students : What are you going to be when you grow up? S1: Im going to be pilot. S2: Im going to be an engineer. S3:T:OK ,today well learn to talk about future intentions with “be going to”2)Practice the sentences with the words in 1a. Im going to beStep4.Listening (1b)1) Call attention to the items in 1b .Let the students read the items before listening.2) Look at the example given computer programmer-study computer science If you are going to be a computer programmer, you should study computer science.3)Play the tape ,do the match work.4) Play the tape again,check the answers.Step5. Oral practice(1c)1)Get the students practice the conversation in 1c in pairs .2)Call attention to the two questions.What are you going to be when you grow up?How are you going to do that? T: Whatquestion asks about the jobs, and howquestion asks about the actions you will take.3)Work in pairs ,make more conversations about other jobs. Step6. Exercise:1.Yao Ming is a p basketball player.2.I hope your d will come true one day. 3.
