Emotional aims: To cultivate students abilities of observing and analyzing; To let them learn to care others.Teaching Key points Students must learn to listen, speak, read and write new words:taller, shorter, longer, younger, older; Students can use the main sentence patterns “How tall are you? Immetres. Im than” flexibly in real situation. Teaching Difficult PointsUsing the main sentences “How tall Its/ Im than” to compare people and things in real situation.Teaching proceduresStep 1 Warm up 1. Playing the short video“Happy song”and sing together.2. Having a free talk with students.Step 2 Presentation1. Lets learn(1)Showing the pictures of Yao ming and Pan Changjiang, and ask students the question:“What are they like?”.After answering the question, students can be showed the two new words: taller, shorter and explained the meaning of words.(2)Showing the pictures of an old man and a little boy and ask students the question“Whats the difference between them? ”After answering the question, the students be showed the two new words: older, younger and explained their meaning.(3)Teaching the students the other words in the same way.(4)Playing a game“loud and low voice”together to practice new words.(5)The teacher plays the recording of “Lets learn” and let students follow the tape.(6)The teacher reads the dialogue first and than asks students to use the sentences “How tall/ old are you?” and “Im metres/ years old. Im taller/ shorter/ older/ younger than you. ” to talk about themselves and their partner.(7)Analyzing the main knowledge point“ The use of the comparative adjectives” in this part.(8)Make students do some exercises to deeply understand the comparative adjectives.
