Talking method. 2. Discussion method.Teaching Aids: CAI, A tape recorder.教学过程设计Step 1 Leading-in1. Id like to join the volunteer project. I love to read about Chinese history. I volunteer at a Chinese History Club every Saturday afternoon. The kids are sitting around me, I tell stories about Chinese history, Im happy. What about you? Now lets make conversations in pairs like this. A: Would you like to join the volunteer project? B: A: What do you love? B: I loveA: Where do you volunteer? B: I volunteer A: What do you think of the work? B: I2. T: I think your volunteer work must be helpful. Now lets read a conversation.Step 2 Role-play conversation (2d)1. Ask the students to read the conversation and answer the questions. What is Helen doing this summer? When did Tom work in an old peoples home?What did Tom help out with? And what did the old people tell Tom?How do lots of old people feel about their life?What should we do to help the old people? And why?2. Play the tape for the students to listen and imitate.3. Ask two pairs to role-play the conversation.Step 3 Reading (3a)1. Talk about the pictures and learn the new words.2. Fast reading. Read 3a and check what the passage is mainly about? A. Mario Green wants to be an animal doctor. B. Mary Brown decided to try out for a volunteer after-school reading program. C. The volunteering of Mario Green and Mary Brown.3. Careful reading. Read the whole passage and answer the following questions.Where are Mario Green and Mary Brown from?What do they love?What could Mario and Mary volunteer to do?What do they say about volunteering?4. Intensive reading.
