Master the key vocabulary and expressions in this period.2. Master the usage of adverbial clauses with when and while.3. Teach Activity 1a.T:Open your books at page 33.Look at these pictures. What can you see?Ss: .T:Yes.Where were they when the rainstorm came? And what were they doing when the rainstorm came?Help Ss to use the structure:He/She was in .when the rainstorm came.He/She was doing sth.when the rainstorm came.T:Now lets read the statements in the box in 1a and check your expressions.Ask students to repeat after the teacher. Then ask Ss to write the letter of each person in the write -on line in front of each sentence.After students finish doing it ,correct the answers.2. Teach Activity 1b.Play the recording,circle the correct responses.Finally,correct the answers together.3. Teach Activity 1c.Talk about what people in 1a were doing at the time of the rainstorm.Ask the Ss to work in pairs. Then ask several pairs of students to present their conversations to the class.Step 3 Practice1. Teach Activity 2a.Play the recording, ask Ss to write the numbers in front of the correct statements.Check the answers then.2. Teach Activity 2b.Play the recording again, complete the sentences in 2a.3. Teach Activity 2c.First, give Ss several minutes to make conversations in pairs.Then,invite several pairs to act out for the whole class.Step 4 ConsolidationTeach Activity 2d.Give Ss several minutes to practice reading the conversation, underline some difficult words or expressions. And ask them to pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.Then, invite several pairs to act out for the whole class.Lead Ss to read the conversation sentence by sentence, explain some language points.Step 5 Summary In this class,first we introduced the topic “what were you doing when the rainstorm came?” by looking at the pictures.
