文档简介
Installation planning outline and checklistIt is recommended that you follow this installation planning outline as a guide when planning a cabling system.1.1. Determine the scope of the cabling system installation.l Building size (square meter or square feet)l Number of people- Number of work areas- Number of phones per work area- Number of terminals per work areal Functional areas affected- Building maintenance department- Contractors1.2. Review building plans for suitability and adaptability.l Number of floorsl Number of data cabinets available- Combined phone and data closets- Separate phone and data closetsl Wiring location- Ability to communicate with other areas of the building during problem determinationl Environmental suitability- Temperature/humidity- Dust- Gases- Cable requirementsl Grounding- Structure, power, signal, piping, lightning protection, ground shift potential, and currentl Cabling passageways/channels- Location- Accessibility- Dimensions- Coordination with other systemsl Freedom from electrical environment contaminants- Radiated frequency interference (RFI)- Induced electromagnetic interference (EMI)- Electrostatic discharge interference (ESD)- Low-frequency interference (LFI)2. Document terminal inventory.l Machine type- Model- Quantity- Services for each machine type- Relevant special features- Devices supported by cabling system- Devices that could migrate to the cabling system (for example, typewriters to office system).3. Document logical network configuration.l Document data flow between machines.l Document related software systems (MVS, DOS/VS, VM, and others) and subsystems (CICS, IMS, VTAM, NCP) as required for problem determination.4. Document physical network topology.l Obtain building floor plans.l Develop or use existing coordinate matrix system so that each work area or data cabinet can be uniquely identified by its coordinates.l Draw a wiring diagram superimposed over the floor plans.- Indicate vertical cable runs- Indicate location and size of data cabinet- Indicate placement of network component at each location- Indicate number of drops- Indicate number and placement of undercarpet cable drops- Use standard symbols to represent network components- Consider channel with attachment requirements of local control units- Compare to other floors for stacking of data cabinets.l Ensure that configuration limits are observed.- Drive distances- Incompatible terminalsl Review plans with other responsible building representative.- Understand lead time requirementsl Review plans with other responsible parties and affected individuals.l Understand problem determination requirements.- Include additional network components, hardware, or equipment as necessary.l Determine and document a scheme for labelling cables, physical accessories, and locations.Labels can indicate, if appropriate:- Location of cable end points- Path of cable- Type of service- Telephone bulk cable routing- PABX terminations (intermediate termination)- Intermediate terminations or connectionsYou may want to make your labelling scheme expandablel Ensure that responsibility for the maintenance of documentation is assigned and clearly understood.5. Using the output of step 5, develop a separate cable and accessory list.l Use worksheets or a database solution as aids.- Cabling system work area worksheet- Cabling system data cabinet worksheet- Cabling system data cabinet/controller room worksheetl Include requirements for spare parts- During installation- For network maintenancel Include accessories unique to each terminal type if applicable.6. Document the physical installation sequence.l Personnel moves.l Construction.l Indicate the sequence in which cabling system components are to be installed.l Scheduling (off-shift, weekends).l Establish target dates and review with all parties.l Establish check points and set up a periodic meeting schedule to review progress.- Ensure that all parties involved are kept informed.7. Order cable and accessories.8. Verify that correct accessories were received from supplier upon receipt.9. Perform installation verification test of the cabling system.l Ensure proper tools are available.l Ensure the correct level of skill is available.10. Establish problem determination procedures.l Identify problem reporting and tracking proceduresl User contactsl Tools and aidsl Support availablel Have the appropriate syste
