Knowledge and skills 1.To help them master the words and phrases: compare、distinctive、variety、differ、now that etc. 2.To let them master verb forms. 3.Help students to learn how to use “ because”, “ since”, “as” and “ now that”2.Process and methods 1)Train the students speaking ability through individual, pair work and group work. 2)Train the students reading skills by dealing with some reading activities. 3)Explanations to make the students master some language points.3.Emotion and values 帮助学生对比2种英语的差别,进一步了解英语文化内涵。重点难点Teaching important points: Enable students to gain knowledge about British and American English, know something about these two kinds of English.Teaching difficult point: 1)Discuss the answers to the questions.2)Generalize the main ideas.教法学法泛读 精读 小组讨论教学过程Step 1: Lead-in (Introduction)1. Do Activity 11) Q: What language is spoken is Britain? What in the US? Do you think the two “Englishes” are completely the same? If not, in what ways are they different?2) Read the quotations on Page 1 and answer the questions.2. Do Activity 2 Get the students to read through the two emails and ask them to decide which writer is American and give the reasons.Suggested answers:The second writer is American.
