society.It is known to us that the government has made great efforts to improve health care.However,there are some persons who have also made great contributions to health care.Do you know what kinds of person they are?Ss:It must be doctors,nurses,chemists and medicine scientists.T:You are right.For example,in 1928,a young Scottish scientist discovered a chemical that was very effective in curing infections.Do you know who he was?Ss:Alexander Fleming.T:What did he call the chemical?Ss:Penicillin.T:Yes.It was Flemings great discovery that changed hospitals and health care for ever.Thanks to his discovery,many lives have been saved.Today,we are going to read a passage about Alexander Fleming and his discovery penicillin.First,lets learn the new words in it.(Teacher shows the following on the to a strain of penicillin which could kill off bacteria while not causing any damage to wounds.It worked against many kinds of bacteria.Later,a series of experiments proved my finds,and therefore,I called it penicillin,which could cure infections by killing bacteria and was mostly safe for the human body.As a result,the existence of penicillin would make hospitals much more safer.I wish the
