this is what we will focus on in this module 3 Have a brainstorm of what they have learned about Europe its countries famous sights famous cities and so on Step 2 Introduction Option One Introduction is actually the warming up of this module This part mainly consists of two activities which are designed to get students familiar with some European countries and to know some new words about the topic as well To have a better effect the teacher may combine the two activities 1 Revise and learn the words in the box The teacher may give a hand if necessary Athens English France French Greece cities as well as languages 2 Ask students to complete the table in the box individually 3 Pair students and have Student A close his book while Student B asks questions such as What is the capital of France What language do they speak in Greece They can then switch roles Activity Two 1 Read out the words in the box and have students follow and repeat 2 Ask students to underline the words in the sentences and then work out their meanings in the context 3 Using the information students are then required to decide which country each coloured letter stands for Step 3 Listening As this is the first recorded listening exercise of the book it might be worth spending a little time talking about some strategies with students First you may tell them the importance of listening in the four basic skills Then you may tell them they are going to listen for specific information and they should not try to follow everything they hear Rather they should understand the gist of the whole conversation and focus on the facts they need to answer the questions Tell them not to worry if they don t hear everything 专心 爱心 用心7 for the first time for there will be further opportunities Activity One 1 Before playing the tape you d better make sure they understand the following words Spain Spanish Edinburgh Wales Cardiff French Russian German Valencia whereabouts Barcelona fantastic tourism 2 Ask students to follow the questions as you read them And if time is sufficient you might as well ask them to look at the pictures on Page 6 and try to elicit some comments about what they can see 3 Tell students that they are going to hear three people talking two of whom are British and one Spanish 4 Play the tape once for them just to listen to And then play the tape through again for them to focus on 3 In Spain Activity Two 1 Ask students to look at the chart carefully first Make sure they know what to do To save time they may just tick in the right space 2 Play the tape for students to complete
