Analysis of the Teaching Material (Status and Function)It is the last chapter in grade 8, it means a summary of the whole grade especially for 8B. “A new newspaper” is an article about some students in grade 8 want to publish a new English newspaper. The article is what job the members got and things they discussed at the first meeting. It is the revision the simple past tense. If we have a look at the arrangement of the Oxford English, the reading passage in 8B Chapter 6, the newspaper is founded, it is the preparation for 9A and 9B because some articles have close relationship with this chapter. So I think this lesson is necessary and quite important. 2. Analysis of the studentsFor the Ss in Grade8, they have the foundation of the simple past tense, they have learned the different forms of passage such as letters, diaries, postcards, advertisements and so on. this time, they will learn how to publish an English newspaper, in fact, in our school, we have held such activity for them recently, and the content is about the found of the paper, the members are the students in grade 8 too. So the students are familiar to the topic and the roles too, it is good to learn the passage better. 3. Teaching Aims Knowledge Objects (1)The Ss will have some general ideas about the preparation of publishing a paper such as the arrangement of members and the things to discuss such as the name of the paper, the price, the period and the sections they should consist of.(2)The Ss will learn some words and phrases by learning the passage such as editor, chief editor, elect sb. to be, vote for, take charge of, ought to, experience consider briefly and conclude and so on. Ability Objects(1)The Ss will improve their reading ability and skill step by step.(2)They will continue developing the communicative ability as usual and cooperating awareness as well during the process of show time and group work in the lesson.(3)I think they can also have a good chance to create and imagine while they design their own newspaper. Moral Objects According to this lesson, the Ss will learn to focus on the things around their daily life in order to publish their paper easily. I think it is a good opportunity for them to stop to think in stead of putting themselves in the books. In some degree, the front is more important for the development of the students.4. Teaching Key Points and Difficult PointsKey Points: (1)the students will grasp the main idea of the whole article . (2)The grasp of the key words and phrases such as editor, chief editor, elect sb. to be, vote for, take charge of, ought to, experience consider briefly and conclude and so on.Difficult Points: Help the Ss understand the whole article. This passage is not short for them to understand especially the second part the things they discuss at the meeting, So grasping the main idea is the most important in the first lesson the article. Section 2 Teaching &Learning Methods - Teaching Methods: Communicative teaching method Audio- visual teaching method Task-based teaching method Developing the students four skills and forming a good sense of English are the main aims of English teaching for middle school teachers. In this lesson, teacher focus on the awareness of grasp the outline by jumping out from the textbooks, teaching the skill to analyze the reading passage is the main goal of this lesson. Therefore, I use the three methods above. Its useful for them to grasp the key points and get a better understanding of the difficult points. Students are the master of the class, so I design some tasks for them, they can have good chances to show themselves.- Learning Methods: For English teachers of middle schools, when we teach the Ss new words and phrases or introduce a new grammar item, we also have the duty to teach them the methods of learning English. So in this lesson, Ill help the Ss to use three learning methods. To make the students analyze and grasp the outline of the passage To get information by different kinds of reading To learn to guess the meaning of some words and sentences in the reading material with the teachers help. Section3. Teaching StrategiesI will lead the Ss to use self-help cooperative learning strategy to explore and scenarios to create strategic. They will set up groups in order to study better and the Ss can take an active part in the tasks designed by me such as show time. Im sure there will be harmonious atmosphere for them to study.Section4 Teaching Procedure& Blackboard DesigningThere are 8 steps in all. Now let me start from Step1.Step1. Warm-up At the beginning of this lesson, teacher shows a picture about some people are reading newspaper directly and asks “What are they doing now?. In this way, we come to this lesson easily. Step2. Presentation Ill arrange this part like this:(1)First of all, Ill check students preview about how to tell what sections they are. I use the form of matching new words with its English meaning. It helps to improve their awareness of using English in the correct way.(2)After that, teacher leads the students to tell which section each passage belongs to by pictures and headlines. Teacher also points out that there are more sections in fact, you can tell easily in this way.Step3. New lesson (1)listening to the tapeIll play the tape and get the Ss to listen to the passage and find out the facts according to the passage. Teacher points out that before listening they should listen with questions in their mind such as “who, when, what, where, why and how” In this part Ill deal with the article in a new way-that is putting P1to 5 together as the first part and P6 to 8 are the left. (2)Further understanding Then get the Ss to scan the passage from P1-5 quickly to tell which job each person get and finish some questions come from this part which are belong to the understanding the article in detail, students can find the answer easily by scanning.(3)Table1Teacher designs a table to give a summary of this part in order to help them to understand the passage better. After filling in the table, they can retell the passage easily.I will present the second part from P 6-8 in the same way.Step3. Reading the passage again After students have get the main idea of the whole article, I am going to point out the key words and phrases with the help of courseware, it is easy to underline and mark for students to follow. Student should hand up and answer as quickly as they can.Step4. Consolidation The students are going to finish the exercises using the key words and phrases in order to consolidate the key points of this lesson.Step5. Show time Teacher presents some English websites and newspapers as reference for students to make their own paper. Students work in groups to prepare for a short time and decide how to arrange each members job and give us the outline of the designing of their own paper. In the end, each group comes to the front, shows and explains to us.Step 6 SummaryIn this part, students will review the key phrases mentioned above again, it is a game to answer quickly. And then, they will also review the whole passage by retelling the passage.Step 8 Homework Based on the show time, students will go on finish their paper in groups.Blackboard DesigningChapter6 ReadingA new newspaperelect sb. to be vote for take charge of ought to I will write the key phrases on the blackboard.
