Lesson Plan for Unit 1 Nice to meet you Designers 黎婷婷 Students to Be Taught The 1st grade students in middle school Type of LessonListening and Speaking Time of the class45mins Teaching Materials Unit 1 Module 1 My Classmates for China Student s Book 1 published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press Date 10 11 This is the first class of this unit 1 This unit is mainly about self introduction 2 Linguistic item includes the strength between the verb be and the personal pronoun especially between am and I or my 3 Cultural knowledge involves the etiquette in introduce oneself in foreign countries and the taboo about asking someone s age Materials Analysis Learner Analysis I In terms of linguistic achievement 1 These students are just in Grade 7 and some of them have difficulty in learning personal pronoun and the uses of directions but some of them have a good understanding of these terms when in primary school 2 But they learned the four module in starter and it lays the foundation of the study in this unit II In terms of students emotion 1 Though there was English class in primary school for some reason most incoming students are very poor in English 2 They have an inferior control and discipline in class Teaching Objectives 1 Knowledge objectives After the class all students will be able to read the new words and expressions 2 Ability objectives After the class most students will be able to introduce themselves to others 3 Emotional objectives After the class some students will be able to have the cross culture sense Teaching Focus Ways out Basing on understanding the meaning of the dialogue students can introduce themselves Key Point Arrange students to listen the dialogue for four times through 3 activities to be familiar with the ways to introduce themselves in English Teaching Focus Students can put the usage of personal pronoun into real communication Difficult point Give explanations of the difficult points and ask them put these terms in real life through speaking activities 1 Warming up Greet students and play a vedio Learn some new words and expressions Teaching Methodologies My teaching philosophy 1 Speaking and listening are as important as reading and writing so it is necessary for teachers to learn about tackles of students in these two skills Basing on this reason I arrange students to listen the tape for times through different activities 2 It is very important to balance the fluency and accuracy in listening so teacher have to encourage students to delete barriers to get the key information As for speaking teacher should give students basic communication terms and context Specific methods 1 Top down model in listening comprehension 2 Giving explanations for difficult language items and speaking task 3 Context speaking activity Teaching Aids Tape recorder PPT blackboard stageStep Teacher activities Students activitie s Time Reasons for stage 1 1 This stage is about vocabularies learning In this way teacher can check the students basis and make the the vocabularies learning funny 2 This stage is aim at arouse the students attention and guide them to think about the culture in English countries 1 Pre listening 1 Ask some students some questions like What s your name where are you from and so on 2 Give students chances to introduce themselves to the whole class 1 Introduce themselves to others Stage 2 Listening 2 While Listening Post Listening 1 Ask students to listen to the dialogue and tick the T or F Then check the answers Practice the dialogue and then ask students introduce the person in the dialogue 1 Listen and tick 2 Listen and choose the correct answer The students introduce Daming and Lingling Reasons for the Stage 2 1 This dialogue isn t difficult for students to understand and it isn t necessary for students to understand every words in a dialogue and students can guess meanings of some words according to the context 2 Listening is very important for students to develope a foreign language competence so in this class I give students much time to practice this skill to listen the dialogue 3 times basing on 3 different activities 3 After the while listening students can be more familiar with how to how to introduce themselves in English through making a name card Designs for stage 2 1 Listen to dialogue and tick the T or F 1 Ms Li is from Wuhan 2 Lingling is twelve years old Stage 3 Speaking Speaking Interview your partners and write down some information then I will ask some students to introduce his her parters 1 Work in pairs and interview Blackboard PPT Design 板书 媒体设计 Unit 1 Nice to meet you My name is I m You are I m from What s your name My name is How old are you I m years old Homework Write a short passage and introduce yourself Reasons for the stage 3 1 1 Speaking is the skill that the students will be judged upon most in real life situation so students should be given time and opportunities to p
