Say Im Miss Zhang.6) Revise introducing yourself by asking individual pupils Whats your name? And encourage them to reply either My names or simply say their names.Step 2 presentation1) Draw and label a boy and a girl on the board. Ask some male pupils to stand up individually and say boy. Repeat the procedure for some female pupils, saying girl. Then ask a pupil to stand up. Point to the pupil asking with rising intonation boy? girl? The pupils should call out the correct answer. Encourage the pupil to say Im a boy/girl. Write the sentence on the board. Repeat until the pupils who are named can say the sentences confidently. 2) Draw school uniforms on the boy and girl on the board. Under the labels a boy and a girl, write a student. Draw a Young Pioneer scarf on one figure. Write a Young Pioneer underneath it. Ask individuals to stand up and say Im a student. Im a Young Pioneer. If necessary, the teacher will model the sentence for them. Let pupils pay attention to the pronunciation of young.3) Revise numbers. Write the class and grade numbers on the board. Model the sentence Im in Class , Grade and have the pupils repeat it after the teacher. Let pupils know that the first letters of class, grade should be capitalized. LetterStep 3 Paractice 1) (Books open) Show the title page of the pupils book, where the pupils should write their name and class. Write the words from the title page on the board. Read Tim and girls speech bubbles. Ask the pupils to act the girl and give the rest of the information about her shown in the pictures, e.g. Im a student. Im a Young Pioneer. 2) Ask a more able pupil to stand up. Point to the words on the board. Tell the pupil to give his/her own information for each sentence. Repeat with other pupils. Step 4 Consolidation1) Prepare role-play cards with information about class, grade, age,etc. Give the cards to the pupils and give them a few minutes to prepare what they are going to say. Ask more able pupils to read theirs aloud.4. Show word cards ( boy girl Young Pioneer student ) and get them to read them out. 5. Show Transparency. Play the tape for B and ask the pupils to repeat Sams words after it. Step 2 practice 1. (Books open) Ask the pupils to count aloud the number of candles on each of the cakes. Write names of the children on the board and their ages under them.2. Show Transparency. Ask the pupils to look at picture 1,and say the words in Sams speech bubble. Write the words boy, and Class Three, Grade One under Sams name on the board.3. Ask the pupils to look at Jill in picture 2. Ask them to read aloud her speech bubble, filling in the missing information. Write the missing information on the board under Jills name.4. In picture 3, the boy is in Grade 3. Point to his name tag and say This is Dan.Ask a boy? a girl? Point to and count the candles on the cake with the class. Point to the classroom door in the picture. Write the information on the board under his names. Help the pupils to act Dan and make sentences using the information on the board. Step 3 consolidation 1) In groups, the pupils show each other the completed title pages of their books and introduce themselves.2) Give the pupils pictures of children cut out from newspapers of magazines and ask the pupils to make up identities for them. Tell them to act the children in the pictures and to introduce themselves.Step 4 SummaryListen to the tape for B. Step 4 Summary1. Get the pupils to recall what they have learnt in Part A B by listening to the tape and reading them aloud.HW:1. Listen to the tape for Unit 1 A B and read alound.2. Make sure these pupils laugh at Bob when he gives details about Kitty rather than about himself, and at the teacher when she gives details about Bob which are incorrect for herself.4)Ask the pupils to role-play the story in groups of five and read the characters speech bubbles. Then ask some groups to come out and act. Tell the pupils to trace the correct words for Bob. Get the pupils to repeat the names. 4) Point to myself saying Im Jojo. Im tall. Show with my hand gesture that I am tall. Choose a pupil and youre Momo. Use hand gesture to prompt the pupil to say Im short. Im thin.5) Show the pupils that Fafa and Jojo are both tall. Gesture to show Fafa is fat and big while Koko is short and small. Get the pupils to say Fafa and Kokos sentences. Step 3 Consolidation2) Play a miming game with the pupils. I use gesture and facial expressions to convey the meanings of the adjectives I want to say. The pupils should respond with its opposite.3) Get some pupils to come out and show with their hand gestures saying , e.g. Im tall. Im thin.Step 4 Summary3) Get pupils to listen to the tape for Unit A and read aloud.4) Point to the words and sentences on the board and get pupils to read together and recall what they have learned in this class.HW: 1) Listen to the tape for Part A and read after the tape. 2) Copybook.
