Then ask other students “What is he / she doing?” to introduce the present tense and explain the basic structure of it.Step PresentationShow the related pictures and ask students“What is he / she doing?” Step Practice Phrases practiceActivity 1Show the pictures of these phrases. First, lead the students to read the phrases two times. Then give the students several minutes to learn these phrases in their own groups. After that, read the phrases group by group to see which one is the bestActivity 2Finish 1a and find out the basic forms of these present participles. Then ask students to conclude the rules of the transformation of present participles. Sentences practiceActivity 1Raise an example of the third rule and introduce more sentence structures of “What is he / she doing?”Activity 2 Show some pictures to let students ask and answer.
