人民教育出版社 七年级下册Unit 3 How do you get to school?Section A Period 1单位:华南师大附中汕尾学生教师:徐苏伟一、Analysis of teaching materials:The topic of this unit focuses on transportation, which is close to our daily life. Our language goal is about how to get to places. With the help of pictures, key sentences practice, actual contexts, and role play, we get students to learn how to use the target language to describe and choose the means of transportation. By the virtue of “how” special questions and ask & answer exercises, we plan to improve students comprehensive abilities (listening, speaking, reading and writing).二、Teaching objects:Knowledge objects:1. Master key words and phrases: walk, take the subway/ train/ motor tricycle/ taxi/ plane/ car, ride a bike/ motorbike, by bus/ boat/ taxi/ train/ subway/ plane/ car, transportation, bus station, railway station.2. Key sentences: -How do you get to school? -I ride my bike to school.-I get to school by bike. Ability objects:Talk about how to get to places.Moral objects:Through learning this unit, we can enable students to care for each other when crossing the roads and paying attention to the sign of traffic. Whats more, let students do something for building a civilized city.三、Analysis of studentsStudents in Grade 7 are aged from 12 to 14. They love new things and long for knowledge. So they are very brave to speak out their mind in class. Their image thinking ability is fully developed, while their abstract thinking ability is comparatively weak. Thats why they cannot distinguish things from time to time. Whats more, their attentions are easily distracted by other things, and sometimes they cannot how to allot time for study.四、Teaching key points and difficult points.1. Master key words and phrases: walk, take the subway/ train/ motor tricycle/ taxi/ plane/ car, ride a bike/ motorbike, by bus/ boat/ taxi/ train/ subway/ plane/ car, transportation, bus station, railway station.2. Key sentences: -How do you get to school? -I ride my bike to school.-I get to school by bike.3. The difference between the phrase “take/ ride the” and the phrase “by ”4. The third person singular form.五、Teaching Procedures.I. Lead in.1. Introduce the spring outing plan from our school to London. Try to set a scene (music, background picture of spring)2. Show a picture of the world, and get students to know the locations of London and our school.3. Brainstorm: let student think about this question: What do we need in this outing?4. Show the routes from our school to London. We divided the routes into 5 parts (from our school to Xiayang Bus Station, from Xiayang Bus Station to Shanwei Railway Station, from Shanwei Railway Station to Shenzhen, from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, and from Hong Kong to London.)Justification: Set a scene and activate students background knowledge. The spring outing is a very attractive and new activity. Whats more, the destination is a foreign city, London, which students are not familiar with. But they can use some knowledge from the subject of geography. So it may arouse students curiosity, and push them to focus on this plan. The question in the part of brainstorm is close to students life. It can help students to think about the actual things. This activity aims to review some old words, and add some useful words which they may face in daily life.II. Presentation.Route 1: From our school to Xiayang Bus Station.Introduce five ways of transportation individually.1. Teach new words and phrases.walk, on foot, ride the bike, by bike, ride the motorbike, by motorbike, take the motor tricycle, by motor tricycle, by bus, take the bus.2. Practice key sentences.A: How do you get to Xiayang Bus Station?B: I get to Xiayang Bus Station by = I take/ ride the/ a to Xiayang Bus Station.Justification: All the pictures of transportation come from the city students are living in. So they will be familiar with those items. With the help of pictures, we teach new words in different ways, such as showing the word or phonetic symbols in turn, etc. After that, we practice the key sentences, and get students exposed in the context. And they will find the different places of the two phrases (the verb phrases and the preposition phrases.) gradually. Route 2: From Xiayang Bus Station to Shanwei Railway Station.In this part, we only show three ways of transportation. Taxi, car, and bus. And we show them together on the same PPT, and then do ask and answer exercises.T: How do you get to Shanwei Railway Station?Sa: I get to Shanwei Railway Station by car. / I take the car to Shanwei Railway Station.T: How does he/she get to Shanwei Railway Station?Sb: He/She gets to Shanwei Railway Station by car. / He/ She takes the car to Shanwei Railway Station.Justification: Let students try to use the target language to finish the exercises. If they cannot know some of traffic vehicles, we can give some tips. Whats more, we can use this way to practice the third person singular form.Route 3 and Route 4: From Shanwei Railway Station to Shenzhen and from Shenzhen to Hong Kong.1. Teach new words and phrases.take a/ the train, by train, take a/ the subway, by subway2. Practice the key sentences in a different way:A: get / Shenzhen/ do / how / you / toB: I take the train to Shenzhen. =I get to Shenzhen by train.A: How do you get to Hong Kong?B: Hong Kong/ subway/ I/ to/ take/ the. get/ subway/ I/ by/ to/ Hong Kong.Justification: In this way, students will think about how to make sentences in the right order. This practice can also get student to understand the different places between the phrase “take the ” and the phrase “ by ”. Route 5: From Hong Kong to London.1. Introduce two vehicles, ship and plane, and then tell the difference between boat and ship.2. Practice key sentences:T: How do you get to London?Sa: I get to London by ship. / I take the ship to London.T: How does he/she get to London?Sb: He/She gets to London by ship. / He/ She takes the ship to London.Justification: We can get students to practice the key sentences with the third person singular form. And let them know how to distinguish ship and boat.III. Game time.By the virtue of the big turning table, we show different pictures on PPT swiftly, which are related to different vehicles, such as air hostess, railway, plane ticket, special seats on the subway, etc. Which group members can think the vehicle out and make a right sentence quickly, so they can get one score for their group. Meanwhile, we design the lucky points, which can be got by each group surprisingly.Justification: This activity is very fun and challenging. It plans to attract students attentions and practice students abilities of reaction and memory. Whats more, it also aims to help students review and make use of what we learned just now. IV. Work on 1a and 1b.A) Finish 1a, and strengthen the phrases we have learned.B) Finish the listening task in 1b.Justification: This activity can help students strengthen the words and phrases we learned and improve students listening abilities. We practice the third person singular form by using the target language when we check answers.V. Report1. We get ss to walk around and interview her/his friends, and then ask them to come to the front and give us a report about how to get to some places.e.g. how to interview classmates.A: Hi, Hows your day?B: Hello, A: How do you get to ?B: A: Have a nice trip! Bye!B: Thank you. Bye!e.g. how to give a report.Good morning, everyone! I want to give a report about how to get to some places. Bill takes to Beijing. Mary gets to by Thank you!2. After finishing reports, we show another PPT with the wrong sentences which they use in their report or interviews, and then we invite some students to correct them.3. Show some pictures about some people who break traffic rules. And ask some students to talk about what we should do when we go out, and what else we can do for building a civilized city.Justification: The design in this activity pays attentions to some details. The examples above can help students know how to interview friends and give us a report. But they are just limited examples, and students can develop their interviews freely and make special reports. We make those vehicles we learned just now in a circle in order to help students review and strengthen those knowledge. At last, under this topic of transportation, we hope students can follow the traffic rules and care for each other when they go out. Combined with the activities (learning from Leifeng and building a civilized city), we wish our students can try their best to do something meaningful.VI. Assessmen
