Unit 10 Id like some noodles Section A 1 (1a-2d): Listening and speaking一、Teaching targets:1. Language aims: 1)words: noodles, mutton, beef, cabbage, potato, special, would, would like, order, bowl, size, tofu 2)sentences:A: What would you like? Im not sure yet. Are there any vegetables in the beef noodles? B:-May I take your order? C: Can we have two bowls of beef soup then? D: Sure. What size would you like? Medium, please. 3) Understand about the grammar focus 4) Acquire the skills about how to buy food.2.Teaching processes and teaching skills. 1)Teaching processes: First, play a video to them about Keith May, my friend from America. Then, introduce 3 restaurants he likes best to them. Next, role-play the conversation and they tell others about their favorite food. Finally, in order to let them know the importance of good eating habits, give them one saying: An apple a day keeps the doctor away. 2)Teaching skills: A:Listening skills. Teach them to write down the key words.B:Pair-work to let students try to speak English and cooperate with partners.C:Role-play to get more familiar with the passage and then give them some free time to show the conversation.3. Emotional targets: 1)Let students learn to live a healthy and happy life. 2)Learn how to cooperate with others. 3)Know more about the differences between Chinese food and western food.2 Teaching difficulties and importance. 1) Teaching difficulties: A: Know how to talk when they are ordering food. B: Let them acquire the listening skills. 2)Teaching importance: A: Acquire about the words and sentence patterns in this part. B: Learn to use the grammar.三、Teaching processes. Warming-up Show a picture of Keith May to them and then introduce him carefully. Next, play a video about him to students when he is making breakfast. At last, he says he likes Chinese food, and let students tell him more about it. Presentation Step 1: Learn new words. Show some pictures of food on the big screen to present some new words and expressions to the Students. Students learn the new words and expressions by themselves and try to remember them. Step 2: Listening ( Work on 1b )Show a picture of restaurant to let them know this is the first restaurant he likes. There are 3 specials in it.1) Let them tell me what these specials are. Give them an example: T:Whats special 1? S: Its a bowl of beef noodles. There are some tomatoes in it. Then, students tell about special 2 and special 3 in this way:Special 2: Its a bowl of _ noodles. There are some _ in it.Specisl 3: Its a bowl of _ noodles. There are some _ in it. 2) He is ordering noodles. Ask students which special he likes best. OK. Listen and complete the conversation Waitress: _? May: Im not sure yet. Are there any vegetables in the _ ? Waitress: Yes, there are some _. May: OK, Id like the _, please. 3)Tell the answers by students. Listening (work on 2b) Show a picture of another restaurant he likes in China. His girlfriend and he are talking with the waiter. Students try to listen and tell the foods name they want to order. 1) Let students listen and then they tell the teacher what food they want to have (Listen and Complete the sentences ). May: 1. Id like a _ bowl of noodles. 2. Id like _, _ and _ noodles. Jenny: 1. Id like a _ bowl. 2. Id like _ and _noodles, please. 2) Students tell the answers voluntarily. Pair work After finish the listening activity. To let students get more familiar about it. Give them a conversation model to talk with their partners. 1) The teacher shows the conversation first.eg: W=waiter(服务员) C: customer(顾客)W: Good morning, what can I do for you?C: I would like a bowl of noodles.W: What kind of noodles would you like?C:Id like beef noodles. Are there any vegetables in it?W: Yes, there are some tomatoes .What size would you like?C: Id like a large bowl, please.W: OK. Youd like a large bowl of beef noodles with tomatoes. Right?C: Yes. Thanks a lot.W: Youre welcome.2) Then give them a model and 2minutes to prepare.Model:W: Good morning, what can I do for you?C: I would like a bowl of noodles.W: What kind of noodles would you like?C: Id like _ noodles. Are there any vegetables in it?W: Yes, there are some _ .What size would you like?C: Id like a _ bowl, please.W: OK. Youd like a _ bowl of _ noodles with _ . Right?C: Yes. Thanks a lot.3) When times up,let them stop and choose 2pairs to show their conversations in front of the class. Reading(work on 2d)This is the third restaurant he likes. He isnt free, so his cousins Tom and lily come to it. 1) Give them 1 minute to read the conversation in 2d and tell the foods names they want to order.2) Listen and complete the conversationWaiter: Good afternoon. May I _?Sally: Yes. Are there _vegetables in the beef soup?Waiter: Yes. There are _tomatoes. Sally: OK. Wed like _beef soup.Waiter: Sure. What _ would you like?Sally: Large, please. Tom: Wed also like _and some _ with rice. Waiter: OK. One large bowl of _, one gongbao chicken, and one mapo tofu with rice.Tom: Yes, thats right.(If necessary, play the record one more time)3) Tell the answers one by one. Role-play the conversationTo let them get more familiar about this kind of conversation and learn English in a active environment, give them 3minutes to act this conversation(They can change the names of food or add other activities)1) Tell them about the game rules: Each group has 4people: 1 is the boss, 1 is Tom, 1 is Sally and the last one is waitress.2) Give them 3minutes to prepare.Meanwhile the teacher walk around the whole class to help the students who needs help.3) After 3 minutes, ask them to stop and then choose 2 groups to show in front of the class.Game timeTell them its their turn to tell Mr May about their favorite Chinese foods.1) Give them 3minutes to think about their favorite
