Teaching Aims:1.Knowledge Objective (1).Students will be able to read and spell the following words and understand their meanings: rule, arrive, (be) on time, hallway, dining hall, listen, fight, outside, wear, fight with, run in the hallways (2). Students will be able to use can, cant and dont to make sentences like these: -Can we arrive late for school? -No, we cant. We cant arrive late for school. -Dont run in the hallways. -Sorry. 2. Ability Objective Students will develop their listening, speaking and cooperation abilities.3. Moral Objective (1). Students will develop their learning interests. (2). Students will develop their cooperation and competition consciousness. (3). Students will establish a correct view of rules (Follow the rules).Teaching Importance and Difficulties: New words and phrases about rules. The use of can, cant and negative imperative sentences.Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Lead in Teacher plays a video Back to School which is about school rules, and set up two following questions at the same time. Question 1: What do you need to do when you want to speak in class? Question 2: What are the people talking about?【Purpose】 Students are interested in watching video. The video and two questions attract students attention quickly and make them think about the theme of this unit: school rules. Then, lead in a new unit. 学生普遍对视频感兴趣,视频本身和两个问题的提出迅速抓住学生注意力并使他们思考本单元的主题:学校规定。即,导入新单元。Step 2: Words TasksWords Task 1 (students learn new words by doing a survey about school rules.)Teacher shows some pictures of students who are breaking the school rules on the screen. Ask some volunteers to be reporters. Then the reporter will ask the students: Can we arrive late for school?Can we run in the hallways? Teacher explains the pronunciation, way of writing and meanings to help students remember the new words and phrases.Words Task 2 (Exercise: Students fill in the blanks with new words and phrases.) Teacher shows an exercise on the screen. Let students fill in the blanks according to the meanings of the sentences.【Purpose】 Doing a survey (actually, put the new words into sentences) makes everyone take part in the new words learning activity. In this way, the students can not only remember the pronunciation, the way of writing of new words, but also know their meanings and how to use them. 通过做学校规定的调查(实际是将单词融入句型中学习),使每个学生加入到单词学习活动。学生不仅会记下单词的发音、写法,而且会了解单词意义和用法,培养了学生在语境中理解识记单词的能力,为下面新句型的学习打下基础。Step 3: Target Language: We cant; DontTarget Language learning: Teacher shows the following sentences on the screen and let students think about and guess what word they should put into the blanks according to the title of unit 4 Dont eat in class. We cant arrive late for class. _ arrive late for class. We cant run in the hallways. _ run in the hallways. We cant eat in the classroom. _ eat in the classroom.Guessing Game: Quick Eyes. Teacher will show some pictures in a very short time. Students guess what rules the students are breaking as quickly as they can. The quickest student will have a little star as a reward. 【Purpose】 Based on the survey, students have got familiar with the sentences We cant. The exercise helps the students make other sentences Dontby themselves. The game will light their passion of learning and emphasize the target language at the same time. 基于之前学校规定的调查,学生们已经熟悉We cant句型,之后的句型转换练习帮助学生自己思考并总结Dont句型(否定祈使句)的使用。猜图游戏迅速点燃学生们学习的热情,使积极性和注意力再度提升,并同时强化巩固了目标语言。Step 4: Words, listening and speaking practices: (1). Word practice (word on 1a)Teacher shows a picture in 1a and ask students: What rules are these students breaking? Students will answer the questions one by one. (2). Listening exercises: (work on 1b, 2a, 2b) Check answers by asking them to make complete sentences. (3). Speaking exercises: (work on 1c and 2c) 1c: Students work in pairs, ask and answer the following questions about rules. Check their works by asking them to practice on group by one group.2c: Students work in pairs, ask and answer with more sentences. And then, pick some volunteers to act in front of the classroom.【Purpose】 Asking and answering, working in pairs, and role playing the conversation will increase the students vocabulary, help them recognize and use the target language in natural speech. 问答活动、小组练习、对话表演等活动对于增长学生词汇量,帮助他们熟识并运用目标语言起到了积极的促进作用。Step 5 Competition and Summary. Teacher divides the students into two groups, and let them have a competition between group 1 and group 2. Rule: Come to the blackboard and write down the rules as many as they can. And see which group will be the winner.【Purpose】 To help students memorize the new words, phrases and target language. The competition develops their learning interests and competition consciousness. 帮助学生记忆新词、新短语和目标语言。两组间的竞赛游戏培养了学生的学习兴趣和竞争意识。Step 6 Exercise Teacher shows some sentences in Chinese.
