All things considered, its more helpful for us to understand the researches that have been done on Atonement from the following four aspects, namely thematic study, theoretical study, stylistic study and artistic study.Thematic study refers to those studies with respect to different subjects, creative motives and topics in a novel. Atonement is defined by Elke DHoker (2006) as a literary confessional fiction which is distinct from the religious confession and he insists that sheer atonement is impossible to realize merely through literary creation. What can on earth counts for redemption in his view are the endeavor and the process of atonement.
