ReviewingReview the places and the sentence structure we have learned last period.1. Show the pictures of places one by one. T: Whats this?S: Its a post office.T: Is there a post office near your house?S: Yes, there is./ No, there isnt.2. Have students ask and answer with other pictures.Step 2. Presentation1. Show a picture, there is a box and a soccer ball in the picture.T: Look at the picture please, and answer my question: where is the ball?S: Its on the box./ Its in the box./Its under the box.(do this activity to review the direction prepositions: on, in, under)2. Show other pictures, in each picture, the direction of the ball is different. T: Where is the ball?S: Its near the box.T: Where is the ball?S: Its next to the box.T: Where is the ball?S: Its in front of the box.T: Where is the ball?S: Its behind the box.T: Where is the ball?S: Its across from the box.T: Where is the ball?S: Its between the big box and the small box.(use the pictures to teach the new words)3. Make a conclusion of the direction prepositions. And have some students make their own sentences with the words. Correct any mistakes if necessary.Step 3. Practicing1. Focus on a group of pictures. The pictures show different directions between a library and a pay phone.T: Where is the pay phone?(Encourage students to express with direction prepositions. ) S: Its 2. Show a map to the class, have students practice the sentence structure:Where is ?Its Step 4. 2a1. Point out the sentences in activity 2a. Read out each one to the class. Then have students translate them into Chinese.2. Pay attention to the pictures in 2a.Match the sentences with the pictures. Write each number in the box.3. Check the answers.Step 5. Listening1. Focus on the sentences and the words in the box in activity 2b.2. Play the tape, have students listen and fill in the blanks with the words in the box. Then check the answers.Step 6. 2d1. Ask students to look at the conversation in 2d, and answer the questions.2. Have two students read out the conversation and try to find out difficulties and suspicious.3. Explain the language points in this period.1. across from 意为“在对面” e.g. The bank is across from our school. 银行就在我们学校对面。【拓展】 across 作介词,意为“从一边到另一边;横过”。e.g. Can you swim across the river? 你能游过这条河吗?2. in front of 意为“在前面”(在某范围之外) e.g. There is a car in front of the house. 在房子前一辆小汽车。 【辨析】in the front of “在前面”(在 某范围之内)e.g. There is a table in the front of the classroom.在教室的前面有一张桌子。3. next to 意为“紧靠着;紧挨着;贴近” e.g. The little boy is next to his mother. 小男孩紧挨着他的母亲。 【辨析】next to与near的区别从空间讲near 只表示“在附近”;而next to有“紧挨着”之意;next to比near靠的更近。如:Peter sits next to Mike. 彼特紧挨着迈克坐。Peter sits near Tom. 彼特坐在汤姆附近。4. How can I help you? 需要我帮忙吗? 表示向他人伸出援手,主动提出帮助的意思,此句还可说成:How can I help you?或How may I help you?类似的句子还有:May I help you?Do you need any help?Is there anything I can help (you) with?What can I do for you?5. Im new in town. 我新来此地。 town 表示 所居住的地方或城市里的闹市区; 城里。e.g. Is there a good place to eat here? Im from out of town.这儿有吃饭的好地方吗?我对这里不熟。Step 7. Pair workShow a map to the class. Imagine Tom is new in our school. Have students make conversations to help him by asking and answering questions about the places in the map. Then present their conversations.Step 9.
