Unit 3 My School Calendar The second PeriodPart B Lets talkI. Analysis of the Teaching MaterialThe content of my lesson is the third period of Unit 3, , Book 6. The lesson is about the topic of birthday, which is closely related to the students lives, and theyve learnt the seasons and the months, so its easy to create a real language environment for the students to accept the new knowledge and use it to communicate with others in daily life. It includes two parts: Lets try and Lets talk. They will learn to ask and answer questions with the key sentence patterns “When is the Its in ” and “I will_will”. II. Analysis of the Teaching BackgroundThe students of Grade 5 have learned English for over 2 years and they can understand teachers instructions. They can use the sentence pattern“When is the? Its in” to ask and answer questions. So its easy for them to accept and apply the key sentence structures. Besides, they are active, curious, and interested in new things, competition and performance.III. Teaching ObjectivesThe main instructional aim of primary school English learning is to promote the students overall language ability. So I put forward the teaching objectives of this lesson as follows. 1. Knowledge objectives:Students will be able to master the key sentences and read the dialogue correctly. 2. Ability objectives: Ss can understand the dialogues and use the key sentence patterns in real situation correctly and skillfully. And Ss abilities of listening, speaking, working in groups, consciousness of good-cooperation will be developed.3. Emotional objectives:Ss will learn to love the Great Wall, love China, and love their mother.Key and Difficult Points1. Key points:Ss can listen, read, say and understand the key sentence patterns.2. Difficult points: Apply the key sentences in real situation skillfully and pronounce the word “will” correctly and read the dialogue with the right intonation and pay attention to the liaisons. IV. Teaching methods and aids. In this lesson, “Situational teaching method”, “Task-based language teaching method”, “Communicative Approach” and “TPR teaching method” will be adopted.Teaching aids:Stickers, intuitional teaching aid, PPT and multimediaV. Teaching procedures.Step 1. Warming-up1. Sing the self-introduction song.2. Guide Ss to guess my favourite season and when is my birthday.Purpose: to stimulate their curiosity and get close to them. 3. Tell the Ss today is our friend Olivers birthday, ask them to sing the birthday song together. Purpose: To form a better English learning surrounding. Step 2. Presentation 1. I set a situation of Olivers birthday. And guide the Ss to listen to the dialogue to get the key information. Then, listen again and check the answers.Purpose: To stimulate the Ss interest of the lesson.2. Guide Ss to make a prediction about the dialogue with the picture. And they are asked to watch and answer the questions to get specific information. Purpose: To present the dialogue vividly.3.They will asked to choose the missing sentences after watching. Then check the answers. Purpose: Ss abilities of comprehension in context will be developed. Step 3. Practice Students will be asked to imitate and act the dialogue. Purpose: It can help the Ss acquire the language naturally and cultivate the correct pronunciation intonation by acting the dialogue in situation.Step4. Consolidation and Extension 1. Mothers Day is coming soon. Ask Ss what they will do for their mom after showing the dialogue on the book. 2. Give an example with TPR and add more phrases like “give her a hug/kiss”.3. Ss discuss in groups and write down what they will do on the heart-shaped stickers. 4.The reporter will give a report and stick “their love” on the blackboard with the moving music.Purpose: It helps the Ss to learn to appreciate and love.5. Enjoy a video about mothers in the world.Purpose: It helps them to learn to appreciate and love.Step 5. Conclusion1.Guide the Ss themselves to conclude the key sentences together. 2. Have them publish their dubbing works about this lesson on the APP “Fun English dubbing” as their homework. Step 6.
