Greeting Greet the students as usual.Step 2. Warm-upSing the chant on the screen and revise the description words and the target languages:-What animals do you like?-I like because-I like,too.ChantWhat animals do you like?I like pandas. They are smart(通过对动物的描述,激发学生学习兴趣和参与热情,同时温故知新)Step 3.Lead-inShow some pictures about the animals killed by people with the background song Earth song.T: What do you think of these pictures?Ss:Sad/ Angry/.T:Why did this happen?Show Jacky Chans words on the screen.Our world will be a less beautiful place without them. By working together, we can save them. Dont buy anything made form endangered species. We can make a difference. There are many elephants in Thailand,but they are in great danger. Do you know why? Lets read the passage and find the answers.(以大象数目的锐减作为导入,抓住学生想探寻减少原因的心理引起学生的好奇心,激发他们的学习欲望.)1.Fast reading:What Is an Elephant?Come to ThailandLets Save the Elephants. Elephants Are Good PetsTask 1. Best title for the passage.Task 2. Judge the statements.1.The elephant is a symbol of good luck.(T)2. Elephants can play basketball or music.(F)3. Today there are over 100,000 elephants.(F)4. Thai Elephant Day is on May 13th.(F)5. Because of the ivory, the elephants are in danger.(F) 2.Careful reading: Read the article again then answer the questions below. 1.Where are the students from? Theyre from Thailand. 2. Are elephants smart animals? Yes, they are. 3. Why are elephants in great danger? Because people cut down many trees and they kill elephants for their ivory. 4. When is Thai Elephant Day? Its on March 13th.(利用快读法和精读法,通过设计的问题,培养学生的阅读速度和技能,帮助学生快速掌握文章大意。) Step 5. Work on 2c Show 2c on the screen. The elephant is one of Thailands symbols. The first flag has a white elephant on it. This is a symbol of good luck. Elephants can play soccer. They can also draw very well. An elephant never forgets. They can walk for a long time and never get lost. They can also remember places with food and water. Elephants are in great danger. People cut down many trees so elephants are losing their homes. People also kill elephants for their ivory. Today there are only about 3,000 elephants (over 100,000 before). We must save the trees and not buy things made of ivory. Remember that March 13th is Thai Elephant Day.Show the answers on the screen ,check them with the whole class.(通过retell进一步培养和锻炼学生运用语言进行表达的能力,将读和说完美结合。)Step 8.Summary T:Today we mainly learned a reading passage about elephants.We learned how to do some reading and some important words and phrases.Through the reading we know “Animals are our friends,we should love and protect them.
