(10分)阅读理解Its early in the morning and the alarm clock has already rung several times. You have to drag yourself out of bed and rush to school. As a school student, this is probably a common experience for you. But thanks to new rules, many students in Zhejiang and Heilongjiang provinces can now stay in bed longer than before. On Feb 23th, the Zhejiang Department of Education published a new guideline that asks primary schools to start school later. According to the guideline, start times could vary among different grades and seasons, with students in Grade 1 and 2 starting no earlier than 8:30a.m. A similar guideline was announced by the education department in Heilongjiang province on Feb 24th. Since the new term began in March, students from all primary and junior high schools have been required to arrive at school no earlier than 8 a.m. And senior high school students are now required to arrive at school no earlier than 7:30a.m. These changes are aimed at making sure students get adequate sleep and enough time for breakfast.According to a 2016 study, only 54.1 percent of students in Grade 4 slept 9 hours or more a night, while the required sleep time for primary students is 10 hours. These changes have received much praise. “I definitely welcome the move, since this will ensure my son has enough time for breakfast, which is important for his health and growth,” a mother from Hangzhou told China Daily. Pushing back school times isnt unique to China. In the United States, schools in at least 21 states began to start school later in 2017. According to a 2015 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the US, later school start times could help improve students health and study performance. Just as Mary Carskadon, a sleep expert from Brown University, US, told The Atlantic, “Everybody learns better when theyre awake.”(1)Which province required students to arrive at school no earlier than 8 oclock? (8分)阅读理解Many students want to give gifts to their teachers, and they often wonder what gifts to give to their teachers. After almost two decades as a teacher, here are some thoughts.First, not giving your teacher anything is perfectly fine. Teachers do not expect to receive a gift and are often surprised when they receive a gift. Believe it or not, the gift that a teacher receives (or does not receive) has no influence on his or her opinion of the child. No teacher will ever remember which child arrived at school with a gift and which did not. Trust me. In fact, many schools do not allow teachers to accept gifts from parents, so offering a gift can place a teacher in a difficult situation. As a result, no gift is sometimes just easier for a teacher. But if youre going to give your teacher a gift, here are a few suggestions:The best gift I ever received from students was given to me when my daughter was born. Each student in my class bought his or her favorite childhood book and signed the inside cover with a message to Clara. These books were then put into a library and gathered to me after Claras birth. The books in that library are still some of Claras favorites today, and we always take a moment to read the messages. Two things to take away from this: Books make excellent gifts. Gifts for a teachers children make excellent gifts. But when it comes to gifts, I believe that the best gift that you can give a teacher is simply a note expressing your appreciation for all that he or she has done for you. I have letters from students that I appreciate (感激) as much as any other object in my life. I read these letters after difficult days in the classroom. They lift my spirits beyond measure.(1)What does the writer tell us in Paragraph Two?A . Teachers can just receive gifts secretly.B . Teachers really hate the policy against gifts.C . Teachers really appreciate gifts from students.D . Its quite OK if students dont give teachers gifts.(2)How did the writer most probably feel when receiving books in the library?A . Surprised and disappointed.B . Surprised and angry.C . Happy but worried.D . Joyful and moved.(3)Which of the following may be the best gift for a teacher?A . The teachers favorite book.B . A gift for the teachers child.C . A letter of appreciation to the teacher.D . Some money for the teacher to buy things.(4)Whats the purpose of the passage?A . To tell parents what gifts teachers like best.B . To give students tips on giving gifts to teachers.C . To explain why teachers want to be appreciated.D . To encourage students not to give gifts to teachers.14. (10分)根据短文内容,选择最佳答案。Mr. Brown works on a farm. Mr. Green works in a park. But they dont know each other. Today is Sunday.
