Unit 5 Do you want to watch a game show?Section A 1 (1a-2d)一、教学目标: 1. 语言知识目标:1) 掌握单词:sitcom, news, soap, plan, hope, find out, discussion, stand, may, expect 掌握句型: What do you want to watch? I cant stand them. What do you think of talk shows? I dont mind them. 2) 了解以下语法: 动词不定式结构做动词的宾语;后面接动词不定式做宾语的动词。2. 情感态度价值观目标: 学会谈论流行文化,了解各类电视和电视节目的名称和自己的喜欢。 注意引导学生们形成正确的文化观念,大力培养学生们的跨文化意义,形成自己独立的个性。二、学情分析我教学的学生(以中等生为主),他们学习英语有很大的学习兴趣,而且有较强的记忆力和模仿能力,并有较强的求知欲和表现欲,因此我在教学活动中尽量让他们参与到活动中来,有更多的机会来说英语,减少他们的恐惧感。通过学生间的合作学习,降低他们的学习难度,使他们体验到成功的喜悦。三、教学重难点1. 教学重点:1) 学习掌握各类电视和电视节目的名称。2) 掌握动词不定式结构做动词的宾语;了解后面接动词不定式做宾语的动词。 2. 教学难点:掌握动词不定式结构做动词的宾语;了解后面接动词不定式做宾语的动词。四、教学过程Step1. Lead-in 学生们根据图片提示学习各类电视节目并且练习运用What do you think of? Step2.根据括号内的要求完成题。1) What does Linda think of your new friend? (改为同义句) _ Linda _ your new friend?2) Dale doesnt mind soap operas. (对划线部分提问) _ Dale _ soap operas? Keys: How does like What does think ofStep3 Game 1. 看1a中的图片,根据提示依次说出每一部TV Show的名称。 2. 看图片及1a中的词汇,将图片与正确的词汇相连。 1. talk show _ 2. soap opera _ 3. sports show _ 4. sitcom _5. game show _ 6. talent show _ 7. news _3. Check the answers with the Ss. Step4. Listening 1. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and number the shows1-4. 1b Listen and number the shows 1-4 in the order you hear them. _ talent show _ talk show _ soccer game _ news2. Play the recording again.Listen again and answer the questions. Remember the questions first.1) What does Jack think of talk shows?2) Does Jack like the news?3) What does Jack think of talent shows?4. Play the once more. Check the answers with the Ss. Step5. Pair work 1. Let Ss read the conversation after the teacher. Then let Ss make their own conversation using the shows and expressions in the box. 1c Practice the conversation. Then make your own conversations.A: What do you want to watch?B: What do you think of talk shows?A: Theyre OK. I dont mind them. B: Then lets watch a talk show. 2. Let some pairs ask and answer about the shows. A: What do you want to watch?B: What do you think of sports shows?Step6. Listening Work on 2a: 1. Look at the picture and answer the questions. 1) Where are they? What are they doing?2) What are they probably talking about?2. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and number the TV shows 1-5. Listen to Lin Hui and Sallys conversation. Number the TV shows 1-5 in the order you hear them. _ sitcoms _ news_ game shows _ talk shows _ soap operas 3. Play the recording again to check the answers. Work on 2b: Listen again. She plans to watch Days of Our Past _. 1. Play the recording for the Ss to write the correct words in the blanks. 2. Play the recording again to check the answers. 3. Listen once more then answer the questions.1) Does Sally like sitcoms? Why?2) What kind of TV shows does Sally like?3) What does Sally think of soap operas?Step7. Pair work 1. Tell Ss ask and answer questions about the TV shows in 2a. They can use the information that is true for them. 2. Let Ss read conversation after the teacher. A: Do you plan to watch the news tonight? B: Yes. I like watching the news. I watch it every night. A: Why? B: Because I hope to find out whats going on around the world. 3. Explain some main points for the Ss. Step8. Role-play 1. Read the conversations and match the name with the right shows. Grace a. game shows and sports shows Sarah b. news and talk shows Graces classmates c. soap operas2. Read the conversation and answer the questions.1) What does Grace think of game shows and sports shows?2) What does Grace think of soap operas? What does Sarah think of them?3. Explain some new words and main points in the conversation. 4. Practice the conversation with their partner. Then let some pairs to act out the conversation. Step9. Language points1. She plans to watch Days of Our Past tonight.plan n. 打算; 计划plan v. 打算; 计划plan to do sth. 计划/打算做某事e.g. We plan to have a birthday party for Mary. 我们打算为玛丽举办一个生日聚会。2. Because I hope to find out whats going on around the world.hope n. 希望hope v. 希望hope to do sth. 希望做某事 (能实现的理想)hope + that从句,其中that可以省略 e.g. They hope to take the plane to Beijing next year. 他们希望明年乘飞机去北京。find out 查明; 弄清 (指通过调查、研究等方式查明事情的真相)find 意为“找到;发现”,强调动作的结果。 Mr. Li found his lost keys in the library. 李老师在图书馆里找到了他丢失的钥匙。3. We had a discussion about TV shows.discussion n. 讨论; 商量动词 discuss (讨论) + ion discussione.g. Lets discuss who is the best performer. 让我们讨论一下谁是最好的表演者。 Did you have a discussion about the food and drinks? 他们讨论过食物和饮料的事了吗?4. Oh, I cant stand them.stand v. 忍受; 站立stand “忍受”,后面可跟代词、名词(短语)或动词-ing形式,作此意讲时,常用于疑问句或否定句中。e.g. How can you stand him? 你怎么能忍受得了他? 5. I like to follow the story and see what happens next.happen v. 发生; 出现 不及物动词,后面不能跟宾语,常用 “事情/事物 + happen +(状语)”句式。e.g. The story happened in 1997. 故事发生在1997年。6. Well, they may not be very exciting, but you can expect to learn a lot from them.may model v. 也许; 可以; 可能 “may + 动词原形”一起构成句子的谓语。e.g. You may go by bike or take the subway. 你们可以骑自行车去或乘地铁去。Step10. Exercises根据语境及所给首字母提示,补全句中所缺单词。1. Do you think Alice can win the competition? Yes, I h_so. She really sings well. 2. What does Mike p_to do this weekend? To visit his aunt.3. Wheres your mother?
