In the contract, it stipulated that the package will be supplied by Y free of charge. When it was three month before the delivery time, X faxed Y: “Cargoes available, please provide packages asap”. But Y didnt reply. After a month X faxed again stating: “cargoes are already available, desperately in need of packages, otherwise we can not make shipment on time”. Y didnt reply neither. A few days later Y sent a representative from its China branch to check the cargo. Under given situation, he said the package had failed to be printed, and the company would not provide them, thus it could be settled on Xs own. Then he suggested to use the unprinted corrugated board carton as the cargo package. According to his suggestion, X produced the cartons and made them packed to be shipped.However, Y sent a sudden fax just one month before the stipulated shipment time, remarking: “ These sets of cargoes should yet still use the package provided by Y”. but X faxed to retort: “The cargo has been packaged according to your representatives suggestion, it has been stowed to be shipped. Therefore the package can not be changed.” Y replied to acknowledge that the Chinese representative agreed to use Xs package out of good will, with the purpose to solve problem then. But now Ys related client insisted using their own package, it was their very hope that X could understand and cooperate, yet the economic loss could not be covered by Y. Y also said that the package must be changed, otherwise they would not perform the contract. Under all these circumstances, X considered Y an regular and important customer, and should keep a long-run good relationship with them, as a result, agreed Ys demand to change the package.The Commercial Opportunities and Challenges of E-Commerce for Chinese Foreign Trade EnterprisesAbstract: With the increasing competition in the international trade market and the arrival of the era of electronic commerce, there are big opportunities and challenges for Chinese foreign trade enterprises. The development of electronic commerce has a great influence on the international trade environment, in order to enhance the competitiveness of foreign trade enterprises in the international market, the development of e-commerce has become a trend and need. This paper discusses the opportunities and challenges that Chinas foreign trade enterprises are facing in the process of developing e-commerce, and puts forward some reasonable suggestions for the development of e-commerce in China.Key words: opportunities e-commerce trade internationalWith the coming of Internet technology and the its wide application, electronic trading of goods and services is becoming more and more popular, we come to the E-Commerce time. Enterprises can not meet the household, it can be with the global supplier and consumer transactions, which is not only an opportunity but also a challenge for small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises. With effective use of electronic commerce, to do international market development, to establish a good corporate image, to reduce business transaction costs, to catch the advantages of enterprises, enhance its competitiveness, is the key to win in the fierce international competition for the foreign trade enterprises. After Chinas entry into the WTO, Chinas foreign trade enterprises are facing unprecedented competition and they must think about how to play a better role in the Chinese economy, which is a key strategic issue. Electronic business represents the important part of Chinas foreign trade for a stable and healthy development.1. Why we need to study on the issue of E-CommerceWith the rapid development of modern science and technology, the trend of global economic integration is strengthening, and the country is facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges. As an advanced organization and management technology, electronic commerce has been widely considered as an important source of profit for enterprises to reduce material consumption and increase labor productivity. It plays an important role in the national economy and social development. To speed up the development of e-commerce in Chinas foreign trade, to optimize the allocation of resources, improve the quality of economic operation, promote the reform and development of foreign trade enterprises, and promote Chinas economic system and economic growth mode of the two fundamental changes, it has a very important significance.In 21 Century, e-commerce will become an important industry and new economic growth of Chinas economic growth. Chinas foreign trade enterprises must seize the favorable opportunity to learn from the advanced technology and management experience in developed countries, combined with the reality, to explore and innovate, to strive to achieve the leap forward development of e-commerce in Chinas foreign trade enterprises, it has a important strategic significance.2. What is Electronic commerceThe definition of Electronic Commerce: e-commerce is usually refers to in a wide range of commercial and trading activities around the world, through the Internet, the sale of both sides are not met for various business activities, consumers on-line shopping, merchant between online trading and online electronic payment and various business activities, trading activities, financial activities and related comprehensive service activities of a new business model.3. Necessity of developing electronic commerce in small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises3.1 The use of electronic commerce can save transaction costs, reduce operating costsEnterprises can achieve trans regional and transnational market information collection through the Internet as well as the product and the enterprise image propaganda, to negotiate the purchase and sale, with electronic data exchange to replace the traditional paper-based trade, and through a network of electronic money payment, transfer and settlement. It greatly reduces business travel and time, space (region) to bring us a lot of restrictions, and create a national, global online business environment. So, the transaction costs of enterprises will greatly reduce operating costs. This is very important for these small and medium foreign trade enterprises who do not have very strong financial strength, from the cost point of view to enhance their participation in international market competition strength.3.2 The use of electronic commerce to obtain favorable information to ensure the timely and scientific decision-makingInformation is the lifeblood of business, especially for foreign trade enterprises. Foreign trade is far more complex than domestic trade. One of the reasons is the complexity of information, which is reflected in two aspects: One is the difficulty of obtaining foreign trade information is very large; the second is the cost of obtaining information is very high. And through the electronic commerce, can effectively solve the problem. The enterprise can through a variety of network, to do the procurement, production, marketing, import and export policies etc. a full range of information seeking work, so as to promote the cooperation between enterprises and enterprises in the world, to build a global enterprise management network, at the same time, it can guarantee the information comes quickly, and provide the basis for the scientific and timely decision-making.3.3 The use of electronic commerce can publish relevant information, improve the visibility of the enterpriseE-commerce provides a broad platform for enterprises to carry out various business activities. Medium and small foreign trade enterprises can use their own e-commerce platform to display a variety of corporate image, publicity and marketing products, enhance the visibility of the enterprise, expand their awareness in the international market, so as to enhance their competitiveness.3.4 The use of electronic commerce can really realize the customer as the center, to carry out personalized managementWith the wide application of Internet technology, the society has entered the era of electronic commerce, it is called the new economic era. One of the most obvious characteristics of this era is the change of consumer value. This transformation is reflected in two aspects: One is to emphasize the high efficiency of shopping; the two is to emphasize the consumption of personalized. Whether the enterprise can satisfy the change of the consumer value, is one of the important conditions for the enterprise to win in the competition. And the emergence of electronic commerce, just can achieve the requirements of consumers. Therefore, the development of electronic commerce is the inevitable choice for the medium and small foreign trade enterprises in the more fierce competition.3.5 E - commerce has become an important way of international tradeAt present, many small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises in China have realized the importance and necessity of the electronic commerce, and give them high attention. However, due to the lack of correct strategic planning and operation strategy, a lot of companies can not know what to do, the application of electronic commerce in small and medium foreign trade enterprises is not very ideal. Therefore, we should combine the characteristics of small and medium foreign trade enterprises in our country, formulate its use of e-commerce in the international market competition strategy, so that e-commerce can promote the times of the foreign trade.4. Strategy of developing e-commerce in small and medium sized foreign trade enterprises4.1 Enhance the ability of enterprise electronic commerceEnterprise is an important subject in the implementation of e-commerce, the active participation of enterprises is the necessary guarantee for the development of e-commerce. Enterprises to carry out e-commerce, need to have the necessary decision-making ability, technical ability, management ability and financial ability. Most of Chinas enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises do not have enough ability to carry out e-commerce. If we continue to promote various forms of information technology and e-commerce education and training, colleges and universities have to improve the scientific construction, training of e-commerce professionals and composite personnel, and continuously improve the comprehensive ability of enterprises of implement e-commerce.4.2 Effective customer management with electronic commerceThe electronic commerce makes the enterprise and the customer information communication more convenient, therefore, the enterprise must pay more attention to the effective customer relationship management. The customers individual requirements and all kinds of comments and suggestions should be timely feedback, in order to enhance customer recognition and loyalty. For small and medium foreign trade enterprises, it is more so, because foreign trade enterprises in the face of the world scope of customers, customer relationship management, directly affect the enterprise in the international market reputation. Therefore, effective customer management is the system of small and medium foreign trade enterprises should focus on the application of e-commerce.4.3 Prevention of the risk of electronic commerce and the cultivation of talents in electronic commerceThe biggest risk of electronic commerce comes from the security field. As Chinas legislation in this area is not very perfect, therefore, the enterprise itself in the use of electronic commerce, should prevent the resulting from the various business and trade risks. At the same time, because of the weak, small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises themselves, to actively carry out the adjustment and reform of personnel system is necessary.5. ConclusionWe must attach great importance to the development of Chinas e-commerce business, e-commerce as a strategic project to expand the opening to the world, and the world economy. Try to promote the application of e-commerce to the strategic height, and give full play to the role of electronic information technology in the economy. Seize the opportunity to meet the challenges, to ensure that Chinas foreign trade continued, stable and healthy development. Foreign trade enterprises in the development of foreign trade, is still a new issue, there is still a lot of difficulties to deal with.
