Get to know the pronunciation and meaning of “giraffe, so tall, short and fat;2. Get to know the sentence structures “Look at that/my. Its(so).” and be able to use them correctly;3. Understand the text as a whole;4. Talk about other animals such as pig, dog, elephant, ect, according to the text and deepen their love for the animals, building awareness of good behavior at the zoo.Teaching focus and difficulties:1. Teaching focus:(1) Knowing the pronunciation and meaning of “giraffe, tall, short and fat”;(2) Knowing the sentence structures “Look at that/my. Its(so).” and be able to use them correctly;(3) Understanding the text as a whole.2. Teaching difficulties: (1) Pronunciation of “giraffe”;(2) Being able to use the sentence structures correctly in real scenes.Teaching procedures:Step 1 Warm-up and lead-in1. Miss Yu is going to the zoo this weekend. Do you want to go with me? If you are active in this lesson, you can go and be my commentator.2. Sing a song At the zoo3. Lets chantStep 2 Presentation and practice1. Watch the video, try to find out what animals are at the zoo?(Giraffe and bear.) Then teach “giraffe”;2. Watch again, try to answer the question: Look at that giraffe. Its. (Wow! Its so tall.) Then teach the sentence structure “Look at that. Its (so). and “tall”;3. Show a picture of a baby giraffe and a mother giraffe, the mother giraffe is so tall, but the baby one is short, leading to learn “short”.4. Say a chant: Tall, tall, tall. Its so tall. Short, short, short. Its so short.5. Practice: Yao Ming is so tall. Mr. Zhou is so short.6. Watch the video again, answer the question: A bear! Its and . ( Its short and fat.) Then teach “fat” and chant: Fat, fat, fat. Its so fat.7. Practice: Look at the pig. Its short and fat.Step 3 Consolidation 1. Follow the tape;2. Follow the teacher;3. Read together;4. Group work;5. Group show.Step 4 Extension1. Show some pictures, ask students to choose one and introduce, eg, Look at that. Its.2. Draw and say: You all did a good job in this class. And you can go to the zoo with me this weekend. But I need a little commentator to help me introduce the animals at the zoo. Now lets run for the commentator. Draw pictures in your group and introduce your picture to others,those who do the best can win the competition!Step 5 Test: Listen and finish the test.1. Listen and number.
