Encourage the Ss to say something about Yao Ming according to some photos, then give them a sample writing to read. appearance personality abilityA sample writing: Yao Ming is my best e-friend. Now he plays for the Rockets in NBA. I believe that he will be the best basketball player Step II. Listening1. Play the tape for the Ss to listen . For the first time, ask them to try to answer the following question: What does Kate want to be when she grows up? ( She wants to be a teacher when she grows up.)2. Then play the tape for the second time. Remind the Ss to pay attention to the adjectives used in the article to describe Kates appearance and personality. What is her appearance? Kate likes to work with children. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up.Step III. Practice1. Let the Ss talk about their best friends. First, let them work in pairs.
