Where can you learn the skills of climbing then? If you think that you have to go to the mountains to learn how to climb, youre wrong. Many Americans are learning to climb in city gyms (体育馆). Here, people are learning on special climbing walls. The climbing wall goes straight up and has small holding places for hands and feet. How do people climb the wall? To climb, you need special shoes and a harness (保护带) around your chest to hold you. There are ropes (绳索) tied to your harness. The ropes hold you in place so that you dont fall. A beginners wall is usually about 15 feet high, and you climb straight up. There are small pieces of metal that stick out for you to stand on and hold on to. Sometimes its easy to see the next piece of metal. Sometimes, its not. The most difficult part is to control your fear. Its normal for humans to be afraid of falling, so its difficult not to feel fear. But when you move away from the wall, the harness and the ropes hold you, and you begin to feel safe. You move slowly until you reach the top. Climbing attracts people because its good exercise for almost everyone. You use your whole body, especially your arms and legs. The study shows that girls become more depressed than boys, and younger girls are the worst of allThe possible reason for the connection between love and higher risk of depression for girls is “loss of self”According to the study, even though boys would say “lose themselves in a romantic relationship”,this “loss of self” is much more likely to lead to depression when it happens to girls. Young girls who have romantic relationships usually like hiding their feelings and opinionsThey wont tell that to their parentsDr Marianm Kaufman,an expert on young people problems, says 15% to 20% young people will have depression during their growing. Trying romance often causes the depressionShe advises kids not to jump into romance too early. During growing up,it is important for young people to build strong friendships and a strong sense of selfShe also suggests the parents should encourage their kids to keep close to their friends, attend more interesting school activities and spend enough time with familyParents should watch for signs of depressioneating or mood changesand if they see signs from their daughters or sons, they need to give help. The good news is that the connection between romance and depression seems to become weak with ageLove will always make us feel young, but only maturity gives us a chance to avoid its bad side effects25. They declare that if more people rode bikes to work, there would be fewer automobiles in the downtown part of the city and so less dirty air from car engines. For several years, this group had been trying to get the city government to help bike riders. For example, they want the city to draw special lanes(车道) for bikes on some of the main streets, because when bike riders must use the same lanes as cars there are accidents. Bike for a Better City feels that if there were special lanes, more people would use bikes. But no bike lanes have been drawn. Not everyone thinks it is a good ideathey say it will slow traffic. Consumers have been willing to pay up to twice as much for goods with organic labels (商标). However, if you think paying a little more for organic food gets you a more nutritious and safer product, you might want to save your money. A study led by researchers at Stanford University says that organic products arent necessarily more nutritious, and theyre no less likely to suffer from disease-causing bacteria, either. The latest results, published in the Annuals of Internal Medicine, suggest that buyers may be wasting their money. We did not find strong evidence that organic food is more nutritious or healthier, says Dr. Crystal Smith-Spangler from Stanford. So consumers shouldnt assume that one type of food has a lower risk or is safer. For their new study, Smith-Spangler and her colleagues conducted a review of two categories of research, including 17 studies that compared health outcomes between consumers of organic against traditional food products, and 223 studies that analyzed the nutritional content of the foods, including key vitamins, minerals and fats. While the researchers found little difference in nutritional content, they did find that organic fruit and vegetables were 20% less likely to have chemicals remaining on the surfaces. Neither organic nor traditional foods showed levels of chemicals high enough to go beyond food safety standards. And both organic and traditional meats, such as chicken and pork, were equally likely to be harmed by bacteria at very low rates. The researchers did find that organic milk and chicken contained higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, a healthy fat also found in fish that can reduce the risk of heart disease. However, these nutritional differences were too small, and the researchers were unwilling to make much of them until further studies confirm the trends.Organic food is produced with fewer chemicals and more natural-growing practices, but that doesnt always translate into a more nutritious or healthier product. The U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) states that whether you buy organic or not, finding the freshest foods available may have the biggest effect on taste. Fresh food is at least as good as anything marketed as organic.32. The new research questions whether organic food _.A. should replace traditional foodB. has been overpriced by farmersC. is grown with less harmful chemicalsD. is really more nutritious and healthier33. Smith-Spangler and her colleagues found that _.A. organic food could reduce the risk of heart diseaseB. traditional food was grown with more natural methodsC. both organic and traditional food they examined were safeD. there was not a presence of any forms of bacteria in organic food34. Which of the following is relatively healthier according to the passage?A. Organic chicken and pork. B. Organic milk and chicken.C. Traditional chicken and pork. D. But you cant be successful when theres a lack of trust in a relationship that results from an action where the wrongdoer takes no responsibility to fix the mistake. Unfortunately, weve all been victims(受害者)of betrayal(背叛). Whether weve been stolen from, lied to , misled, or cheated on, there are different levels of losing trust. Sometimes people simply cant trust anymore,37. Its understandable, but if youre willing to build trust in a relationship again, we have some steps you can take to get you there. 38Having confidence in yourself will help you make better choices because you can see what the best outcome would be for your well-being. 39 If youve been betrayed, you are the victim of your circumstance. But theres a difference between being a victim and living with a “victim mentality”. At some point in all of our lives, well have our trust tested or violated. You didnt lose “everything”. Once trust is lost, what is left? Instead of looking at the situation from this hopeless angle, look at everything you still have and be thankful for all of the good in your life.40Instead, its a healthy way to work through the experience to allow room for positive growth and forgiveness.A.
